I agree with Simon...most of last night's performances were indulgent and didn't show much uniqueness. A couple of standouts though was the girl with the dreadlocks and harmonica, and the girl with the platinum hair. I also liked the glass blower.

She was my favorite - Siobhan from Cape Cod.

I think in other seasons many of the girls would have been applauded for being unique. But they chose to put so many of the same "type" of singer into the top 12 thereby negating their uniqueness! Many of them reminded me of Brooke White with better voices.

I'm really liking Ellen as a judge, but I knew that I would.

I'm watching. I only liked a few of the girls last night. I don't remember their names, but yeah the girl with guitar and harmonica, the girl who Cara said shouldn't have worn much make up(the lipstick was a little icky looking), and two other girls that I am going blank on who they were. :P

Very true about the type of singers they chose. I have a feeling Siobhan will go far...Karen was right, when she sings, she's right there in the moment. You could really see it at the end of the show last night when they replayed clips from each singer in succession.

I also like Ellen. Paula Abdul was not really a very effective judge and only made the show interesting with the banter between her and Simon. This year's panel of judges look and sound like they really are into what they are doing vs. just being celebrities.

LOL...the girl with the curls and red lipstick...she sounded good last too. The girl with the orange hair and really blue eyes from last season...her performance was terrible and I don't think she'll make it to the next round.

I loved Lilly Scott, Didi Bernami & Siobhan. Crystal Bowersox was also excellent. Really REALLY did not like Haeley Vaughn or Lacey whateverhernameis. She destroyed one of my favorite songs.

Dislike tremendously Katelyn Epperly!

And Ashley whatever (the Leoona Lewis impersonator) is just not very good. Would love to see the back of her.

ditto. but dinna like the glass blower chick.

i thought last night was 'lackluster' - many of the 'big pipes' girls did not choose a song to show off 'the big pipes', and this was commented on, a lot !!!

I sat through it, thinking 'ok - the next one is gonna be better'

I should have recorded it, instead, as to watch it live - was a waste of my time :(

I haven't watched American Idol after Season 7. I had a huge crush on Jason Castro back then. :rolleyes:

Are they already in the top 12 now? This must be Season 9.
