K1 Visa Interview - what to bring?

Hi guys,

So I've recieved package 3 and sent off for the interview. I've looked around this site and the web and found alot of conflicting information of what I need to bring to the interview. On the form IV-15 & Checklist it tells you what you need to have ready for the interview, is this not all you need? Do I need to bring more? I've made copies of almost all forms and things we've mailed off.

I would of thought if there was more I needed to bring the embassy would inform me of this? But then again they are quite confusing. Any help with regards of what to bring to the K-1 Fiance interview would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Shane

Hi Shane!

You're right, if you don't look in the right place, you'll see a lot of conflicting information on what people need for the interview. Unfortunately, since the interview is left to the "discretion" of the interviewing officer, and they are guided by the embassy policies, it's not at ALL uniform.

Check out the interview thread in the UK regional forum, and also the embassy reviews (link at the top of the page, over to the right). This phase of the process is highly specific to the embassies involved, so be sure that you seek out information which is specific to London.

Here's the link to the 2010 interview thread. It has many status updates, but there are some "lessons learned from 2009" included a few posts down on the first page.

Hi,

Thanks for the information I will definatly look through it and try figure everything out :) It's a shame there seems to be no set list for each embassy or something. But such is life! I'm sure I'll get through it :)

As you said, you got the checklist from the embassy, which definitely has all the documents required. Some people collect a bunch of relationship evidence, and most (including us) don't get asked to show it (for London).

Its very true - there is always alot of conflicting info floating around. We were through a particlarly difficult consulte (Ho Chi Minh City) so we took LOTS and LOTS of evidence, in the end we were asked for hardly anything. However we had friends that were asked for everything and grilled to the gourd. So much is dependant on the CO you get. My opinion is to take as much as you can, if its not needed - GREAT! But I would err on the side of caution.

Best Wishes and Good Luck - hope everything works out smooth and you can be toghether soon.
