My husband and I are traveling back to Australia this year to visit my family. Last May we got married and I later received my Green Card with conditions. I am unsure about what name I should put on my tickets. I am using my husband's name here, but I won't be able to change my name on my passport or other documents until after I am back in Oz. I presume others have been faced with the same issue. What should I do? I will be taking my marriage certificate with me to change my name in Australia, if that makes a difference?

for the air ticket - use passport name.

bring a marriage certificate (original) with you, to show at US border when you return to USA, when you show yer greencard.

Most likely, not have any problem, but, ya never know.

The air ticket must match passport name.

Getting back in to USA, you show yer greencard and passport.

The marriage license is a back-up, in case you get brain dead CBP human.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Not sure when you plan on travelling but you will need to change your name via deed poll with the state registry where you were born (if you were born in Australia). The passport office will not accept overseas marriage certificates as proof of name change. They will need the registration of your married name from BDM.

The passport office will also reissue your passport with the name change free if it is within 12 months of your marriage. FYI - the name change takes about 6 weeks with the registry but for an extra $74 they will do it in a week.
