Visa Journey and the kind folks here have been a great help to my wife and I throughout this journey. Thanks so much.

We filed our I-130 in November of 2007 and had our interview November 3, 2009 and were declined because we did not submit my wife's 2009 Income Tax return, nor was it requested (due to the extended approval time). We however filed the 2006, 2007, and the 2008 returns. During the Interview we were told to fax the 2009 return and it would take two weeks for a Passport request. We faxed the 2009 return the following day. It was not until 7 weeks ago that we got a call from the CO confirming the Visa approval and request for passport. We are so happy about this.

Has anyone else experience a long wait time for passport request then once submitted another long wait?

We are trying to determine how long it will be before I get my passport back. We missed our Valentine's Day getaway together :(

It's a crapshoot how long it will take to process a submission after interview. Surely, what was requested was the 2008 tax return, which would be filed in 2009. Is that what was sent in?

Sorry, I meant we submitted the 2005, 2006, and 2007 returns however because of the delay to interview time the CO requested the 2008 return. Our lawyer claimed this was not necessary because what was originally submitted would suffice. As mentioned we did submit the 2008 return 1 day post interview. My passport was returned to me because the CO claimed he would need 2 weeks to process the paperwork and by me having my passport in hand I could visit my wife during this time. It was not until the end of December that my passport was finally requested. The Consulate received it on January 4, 2010 and they still have it today.

Thanks for responding

The Montreal consulate is extremely slow, I am sorry to tell you. It's sad how far behind they are and how understaffed they are. You'll just have to wait it out.

good luck
