To each his/her own I suppose, but I'll take the less crowded, friendlier, lower taxes, better politics, better food area than the other ;)

The lower taxes come at the price of improved infrastructure. I'll take my california taxes. Besides, Texas sucks at football, I don't think I could live with that :hehe:

No offense by Texas is no NYC. I'll give up my selection at the grocery store to live in NYC... it's definitely give and take!

NYC is great, I just couldn't handle living in a shoebox and not being able to drive. Plus the wife hates just visiting there (I enjoy it a lot) so living there is out.

Our Infrastructure is great in DFW actually. :)

Houston.... Let's not go there.

Football? Pffffft!

Texas (all teams) > everyone for football. Hell, most universities in the nation still look to Texas high schools for drafting! You don't beat it here!

While what you say is true, these are kind of misconceptions about NYC. We have a great-sized apartment and have a car and drive to a lot of places. Visiting is a lot different than living too. I can't stand being a tourist in NYC and hate taking my visitors around to see the city. Being a local is a different world.

I was just being cheeky actually, I hope I didn't offend anyone and even I don't plan to live in NYC forever. But NYC is definitely full of amazing opportunities, interesting and successful people, more restaurants you could ever dream of and a lot of other special things that other cities just don't have. I actually also love San Francisco, Orlando and Las Vegas for different reasons as well.

I also love the sounds of Austin and work with a lot of people there. Can't wait to visit.

Univ of Texas - 4 National Championships

Univ. of Southern California - 11 National Championships

California also has more players in the NFL than any other state. Plus we have beaches and it's not currently snowing here (like it is in Houston) :hehe:

What's with all the #######-waggling in this thread?

I can't think of anything more pointless than saying, "My country is better than YOUR country! My state is better than YOUR state!" Seriously...what's the point of that? We all live where we live because, presumably, we LIKE where we live...or we've decided to accept the negative aspects of where we live for the sake of being with our spouses.

Vancouver is frequently rated as the "best city in the world" or "nicest" etc., but while I'll miss it, I'm not going to get to D.C. next month and start saying, "Yeah, Vancouver was better at this, that and the other thing. You all suck compared to Vancouver!" because it's all relative, isn't it? Like Rob said, it all boils down to what you're used to and what you like. Objectively there's no "best" city. Or peanut butter. There are just preferences. No need to be an ####### about it.

No one is being an #######. We're just having a light hearted conversation about preferences in food and geography!

I personally like hearing about why people live where they do. I'm very interested in that sort of thing!
