Hello my dear friends of visajourney. I have been a long time lurker but I have decided to register because I need your advice in something.

I am southamerican and I immigrated to canada as a permanent resident 6 years ago and I am becoming a canadian citizen at the end of the year. I am a accountant but I haven't been been able to get a job in my profession here in canada and I have been working in a blue collar job.

In the meanwhile I met an american girl and we have plans to marry and probably she will sponsor me to go to the states. The point is that I haven't tell her about my current job because of embarrassment. I DO love this girl and I am not getting married for a visa because I have a decent lifestyle here in canada, I can bring support for her, canada has good social services and universal health care, the economy is more stable, and if I wanted I could have sponsored her to come to canada, We plan to go to the states just to escape from the canadian winter.

Now I am looking for advice if I should tell her about this or not?. Does the us embassy will check my job position or only if I have been working and my income statements?

Thanks for everything

You will list your employment history on your visa paperwork, and you must be truthful, so yes, USCIS and DOS will know. Your future wife will sign the paperwork, so she will know. Go ahead and tell her now. There is no shame in any honest work. In this economy, there are plenty of highly educated people taking blue collar jobs to pay the bills, so you are hardly alone. Any woman worth her salt will appreciate your hard work. Good luck with your journey.

You'll put your profession on the G325A, and your fiancee will need that to send in with her petition packet.

So, do you want her to find out from a form when she's giving it one last check for typos, or do you want to tell her yourself?

Regarding immigration your income will not matter unless you are going to self sponsor for the Affidavit of Support. The US citizen petitioner is the one required to prove income and ability to support you.

Only you know if your type of employment will matter to your fiancee.
