I am currently awaiting an interview date (Sent packet 3 on 15th Jan) and have noticed that my fathers place of birth is different on my birth certificate than what I wrote on the various forms I sent back to the embassy & upon asking my family I discovered that it is the birth certificate that has the wrong information on it.

Can I get the information on the BC changed, and is this likely to cause a problem come my interview date?

I'm really not sure what to do =/

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards, Tom.

I'd guess they probably won't even notice when they look at your BC at the Embassy. And if they do and ask, tell them just like you told us. It's not some kind of cover-up. It's an honest misunderstanding/mistake in the records. I wouldn't try to fix it at this point. I, personally, wouldn't worry about it but maybe the worrying type folk will have other suggestions.

Thank you.

Does anyone else have experience with this kind of thing?

Hi there

I had this issue too, my dad found out he was adopted after I was born and discovered that his place of birth was different to the one that was on mine. I paniced a bit, as i didnt notice this until after I had sent in my application and was worried it would come up in the interview. So far, no one has raised the issue. Im now in the states, getting married in 3 weeks, so I dont know if it will be an issue when it comes to the AOS, but from now on, on my forms, I just put his place of birth as UK. As the difference is just in towns, not in countries, dont know if this is your issue.

I really dont think that it will come up to be honest, but if it does, I will just explain what happened. I certainly didnt want to pay or go through the hassle of having my birth certificate altered. Im sure it will be fine for you, good luck!
