Hi, My Fianc'ee who lives in Sumy, Ukraine can not come here to US becuase of her two boys can not get visa's. Her ex-boyfreind will not sign off for visa, as he is on there birth certificate as the father. So we have decided I would move there (Sumy) Ukriane. Been there 6 times!

Would like to get a permanant visa without loosing USA citizenship. Getting married in Sumy is also an option!

Question

Is the (IM-2) entering Ukraine for permanent residence the wright way to go?

If yes to the first question then:

Question 2

Aside from filling out the forms and other stuff they say this "Permission for permanent residence in Ukraine obtained from Ukrainian Immigration Authorities of the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine".

Is this something I have to get and how or does the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco do for me when I apply for the visa?

Thanks all for your input and help

Bribery can usually be pretty cheap in Ukraine. I lived in Ukraine but not as a permanent resident, I had a special visa allowing work as a contractor with contracts with the government.

Unfortunately I cannot tell you the path to permanent residency. I can say as mentioned above, it has no affect on your US citizenship and that the Ukrainian consulate is the place to get your answers. There are three consulates in the USA.

I can say as far as living there, you may find it difficult to get a job because of language problems. If you can teach English you would have a marketable skill. Ukraine has a very mercenary and difficult business climate, they will eat their young. If there is some sort of US based job you could line up their, that would be ideal. as for going there and just finding suitable work on your own...good luck with that. Your fiancee had best plan to be able to support you indefinitely.

Bribe the father.
