That is great news AND super fast!! I have to do the same very soon, just waiting on my partner to send the paperwork over from the US, then we can get the ball rolling. I'll be using the Embassy in Melbourne.

They'll still have you go through the Embassy in Sydney if you need an appointment. Good luck!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the Melbourne Consulate website, I can make an appointment for CRBA, US Passport and SSN right here in Melbourne ...

I've been emailing the Consulate a few times recently, for more detailed information on the forms etc, so I'll shoot them an email Monday to clarify if appointments are solely held in Sydney.

If it is solely for a CRBA then yes, you can do it from Melbourne. If it is for yourself, then I have taken this from the website:

If the petition is approved, your spouse/child/parent will need to complete all documentary requirements, including medical examinations and police clearances, and have an interview with a consular officer in Sydney before an immigrant visa is approved and issued. For information on documentary requirements for U.S. immigrant visas or scheduling appointments at the Consulate, please see below.

This relates to all applications made through any office. They all must go through Sydney.

Oh you edited The appointment is for my baby, to get his CRBA, Passport and SSN. I knew I didn't have to go to Sydney! You guys are trying to give me a heart attack lol.

When I said earlier that I was waiting for my partner to send the paperwork over from the US, I was meaning the paperwork for my son's CRBA etc, I should have said so but didn't realise people would think I was referring to Visa's lol. That's happening after we get all this sorted first haha.
