Hi,

My fiance has filed K1 I-129f petition for me.

She recently received this mail

"Current Status: This case has been received from the State Department with a request we review it.

.... a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our custome..."

She received NOA2 for approved petition like 20 days back and today she got above mail.

Does anyone know what this mail means? What should we do?

Thanks.

Regards.

So your petition was approved and then forwarded to NVC and then sent back? Bizarre. I would call and check.

anyone here has experienced such case??

what can be reasons to send back the case?

wht most likely happens in such cases??

This is definitely not the norm, and not to scare you, but I don't see it as a particularly good sign. There must be some fact under debate from the NVC (Dept of State) that is making them ask USCIS to review it.

Are there any 'unusual' circumstances with your case? I mean, you guys have met in person and everything, right? I know it's hard to do but you have to take a critical eye to your case and think of things that might have become a red flag for the DOS.

The only other suggestion I would have is to have the US citizen contact their congressman or senator's office and see if they can get any other information - like what it is specifically that they seem to be concerned with which would require this to be sent back up the chain.

We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you.

No information will be available until they complete their review. They will not even tell you why the case was sent back for review until they complete their review. If they send it back to DOS, they may not even tell you why then. This is unusual but there's nothing at all you can do but wait. for at least 60 days. After that, the petitioner may want to contact their State's Senior US Senator's office and ask them to do an inquiry. No guarantee as to whether that would be productive either.

Usually, with some thought, either the petitioner or beneficiary can come up with a clue about what might be the problem though.

Not unusual at all. It sometimes happens even after sent to the consulate or even after an interview. It means that they thin USCIS made an error and want them to review the case and either deny it or reaffirm it. When either happens, your fiancee will receive another letter telling her the status.
