Thankyou Wizard and Dorothy. Happy for you. Vanessa, I don't suppose your familar with the term, 'empirical knowledge'? If you look around the forums you'll find that some of the requirements for medical examination varies from country-to-country and these guidelines are established by the CDC.

Thankyou Wizard and Dorothy. Happy for you. Vanessa, I don't suppose your familar with the term, 'empirical knowledge'? If you look around the forums you'll find that some of the requirements for medical examination varies from country-to-country and these guidelines are established by the CDC.

I'm well aware of the guidelines. I'm also well aware of several people who sent in their AOS's without completing an I-693 (and thus a skin test) and being approved without issue or RFE (one being approved in 37 days).

You are stating something you are guessing to have been the problem as a fact when it is not a fact. Unless you have proof that it WAS the x-ray then you honestly don't know what the problem was and you are confusing people and freaking them out into thinking the NEED the skin test (again there are several people who have not got the skin test and have had no issue). The skin test can be expensive and it is NOT needed and if a doctor tells you it is you are supposed to point him to the medical FAQ's which state it is NOT required if you came over on a K1 visa and had your medical in the last year. This is the current line on the matter, you are confusing it.

There have been several hundred false RFE's for the I-693 sent out, especially around November 2009 to about Feb 2009. There were RFE's sent saying the K1 medical was too old when it wasn't, saying the medical was missing when it was them not looking in the A file and various other reasons. Having an x-ray is definitely not an issue as if you look into the skin test stuff, you'll see that if you get a positive you get a chest x-ray done. Why would having the most accurate test for TB be a problem simply because you didn't do the one that gets a LOT of false positives (BCG or something like that gives a false positive).

As stated, if you get an RFE you believe to be a false RFE look into it. I have had my medical from Australia sent to me in case they "lose" my medical results (otherwise you need to make an infopass appointment, others have had success with contacting their state congressman). As the I-693 instructions read, and as the medical FAQ's state, you DO NOT need a TB skin test if you came over on a K1 visa and had your medical less than a year ago.
