So, today we receive an RFE that say, "I-693 Medical examination: There is no record of a complete medical exam in your file. There is no record of you having been tested for tuberculosis, syphilis or any other communicable disease. Please submit a properly completed and signed Form I-693, medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. The medical examination must be conducted by a physician who is on the list of civil Surgeons approved by USCIS."

Now, the case was sent to California, and we live in Virginia. Wife is 35 yo and went through Moscow's US Embassy and seeing their doctors. Her I-693 was conducted by a civil surgeon that is on the EGOV USCIS site and the sealed package was sent in the AOS packet by certified mail to the Chicago lockbox. We have a photocopy of her I-693 and I'm looking at page 3 that the doctor checked the box verifying that the "Vaccine history is complete for each vaccine, all requirements met."

What gives?? What can we do? I mean, how can we say, well you guys have the sealed packet and we have the copy and it says inside that we went to your civil surgeon and the doctor says all requirements were met.

We called the 1800 number they provide, they escalated the case, spoke to a woman that said send a letter and photocopy stating that CA has made an incorrect call.

Any advice?

we got the same RFE, because our papers got lost along the way and we had no choice but to find a civil surgeon and REDO the medical exam all over again and send them back the whole medical again...

So i would suggest just go ahead and redo the whole medical, i know this mean more expenses but you cant fight with USCIS...they will always think they are right...Just do what they ask you to...

Here's a link , you enter you zip code and find the nearest civil surgeons and just call around and ask about the prices ,they are all different and some places are really overpriced...

Some people have been saying this happens as well because your files have not been properly linked up. They have suggested filing an Infopass meeting to see if you can get the info from the K1 file before you redo the medical to save yourself money if it is there. Now if its not you may have to get the medical redone, but a few people have been having this issue lately and it seems like some of them have managed to fix the issue by going this route first.

I agree. I think you should make an infopass appointment first and try track down the results of the medical from your K1. Re-doing the whole medical is just silly.

All the best.

We tracked down our medical by getting our congressman involved. They can get into contact with much higher customer service guys than the average persn can.

However, if whats in quotes is what your RFE says word for word, it's new to me. Considering that it made it to CSC as well, I would think that means they got all of your files from POE too...

Let us know how it goes if you try to get it found.

they couldnt find our oversea medical. We set up an infopass, but it did not help. They said infopass doesnt have access to my A file in MO.

The only thing we could do is send a letter or redo the medical.

Since the CS only charge $75 for the medical, we went ahead and got it done to save some time

So, we finally learned what the deal was. The panel physician in Moscow requested an xray instead of the TB test. USCIS had said this was insufficient. Regardless, we went back to her Civil Surgeon and did a redo on all requirements. Ours, in Williamsburg VA only charges $210 for the complete physical with blood work, etc for the I-693.

That was three days after receiving the RFE. Packaged everything up and sent USPS 3 day from March 1st. Today we received notice that her AOS was approved without the interview

I'm happy you got it sorted but I highly doubt the reason you gave is correct as Australia ONLY does X-rays so we'd ALL be in trouble. After a skin test they do the X-ray if you're positive to confirm. We have the X-ray to not waste time on the skin test, it's just how our medical guide is on the US embassy for Australia... soo.. no I doubt that was it. Maybe he didn't do something he was supposed to though, but X-ray doesn't sound right.

[Hi Karin

Hi , hope you are well , I was wondering if you could help me , I have posted here but no one has replied that is in the same situation and was wondering if you could advise and if you think our medicals or I-693 is lost , I have no idea what to do. We have applied for AOS for myself and 2 children , K1 and 2 K2's, we have received our NOA and Biometrics letter , biometrics we go for on 25 June 2010. What I dont understand is that today we get RFE's on the 2 children's I-485's. What the RFE letter says is :

Submit a properly completed and signed Form I - 693 , Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record for the applicant on Form I-485. The medical examination must be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by the USCIS . The medical must be issued less than one year prior to the filing date form of I-485.

Now if you read Form I-485 instructions , page 4 , 7 medical examination it says if you have had medicals done in last year you do not have to have them done again , we had our medicals done last October before coming to USA, so surely we dont have to have them done again ? Also the surgeon here in USA did our I-693 in May 2010 completed the whole vaccination records. When we phone USCIS all they say is they cannot see if they received all this information , which they must of to issue a NOA and a Biometrics , also say they cannot see what was wrong with the I-693 if anything was , surgeon says it was completed correctly, all they say is that it could of being a mistake but will make an enquiry and we should have a answer in 30 days, that makes us nervous , cos the RFE gives you 87 days to submit the RFE information requested . What do we do or what is the problem here ?? Pls Help !!!!!!!! Thank you, P.S I spoke to USCIS again this morning and they are saying we must send in a letter explaining all this and copys of I-693 and possiably medicals as well , do you think we should do this or just re-do all medicals again at a huge expense ? Thank you for any help !!

Seems they've been 'misplacing' them a lot lately.

** Am moving your thread to the AOS Forum where you'll likely get some much needed responses.

This has been some time since we experienced this. We went back to our civil surgeon. We learned that the embassy's doctor had requested a chest x-ray for determination of tuberculosis. This was incorrect. We did a reexamination through the civil surgeon, which took three days, resubmitted our medical form and within four days of California receiving our packet we received notification of approval for green card. It was hectic but ended very easy. Oh, and California never told us the reason for the RFE. It was my fiancee that figured the thing out. I suggest you just try to gather the info and be calm. You've gotten this far.

Good luck!

I believe I posted when you posted your situation. It was NOT the X-ray. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY that it was the x-ray. ALL applicants in Australia (and several other countries) have chest x-rays instead of the skin test and if it was that X-ray's were done then we'd all get RFE's and we don't.

Hi Ivan

We went to civil surgeon today and she says our I-693 for my kids was completed correctly and thinks they ( uscis ) have lost the forms or want medicals re-done on kids, so I have opted to re-do medicals next week, price not to bad $160 for both kids , and get her to do the I-693 again and submit to USCIS. This way I know it cant get "lost" and will hopefully be back on track again soon :) And congrats on your almost 1 year !!
