Well, after sending in the package overnight, I realized I didn't include any passport photos of hubby

Leng Che's shortcuts didn't say anything about passport photos, that I could see. Anyway - I realized it when I read the IV instructions from the NVC website - so, overnighting those tomorrow to prevent RFE...

RE: Photos

We sent in 2. We have 2 more to take to the medical exam and 2 more for the interview.

Rian, AP is Administrative Processing. It's sometimes called 221(g) after the section of law that it deals with. It means that the CO wants more information. Either they want you to submit more documents and photos, or they want more time to double check your case.

I know a girl who came on K1. The CO called her mother to double check that she was really in school and wasn't working. That's because she sent in a photo of her and her fiance where she was wearing an outfit that resembled a work uniform. Her AP lasted 3 days.

Another girl received AP because she didn't bring in any e-mails from her and her husband even though this was their main form of communication. Her AP lasted about 10 days after she submitted the e-mails. I think this is what MQ's AP will be like.

The AP where the CO wants time to double check your case can take a long time. I don't know how other embassies do it, but Bangkok has a policy to clear these up before the end on the year. So, usually, a case sits in AP at the embassy until the beginning of December. Then, the beneficiary gets a phone call requesting another interview. This time the spouse is usually asked to be there, too. These are the really tough interviews. It's because they doubt your relationship. So the Fraud Prevention Unit goes over ever little detail of the relationship looking for inconsistencies. Really, though, this is rare in Bangkok. I don't know how common it is in Manila. Do you hear a lot of stories about rough interviews? If so, you might want to make sure you know the details well.

Bangkok seems fairly straightforward. They as the same 4 questions of everyone: How do you know your spouse? When did you start talking? When was the first time you met? How many times has your spouse come to visit you in Thailand? That's it. If there's been a divorce or death of a previous spouse or there are children involved, then there are 1 or 2 questions asked about that. Usually name of the previous spouse date of death/divorce or name of child and birth date. Not too bad. But Husby is still learning the dates and details of everything. Just in case.

Julissa, I'm with ya, girl! I can't believe there were no changes for any of us today. Grr!

There is also the AP issued at MENA countries... This is usually emposed by the Dept of Homeland Security and requires name checks and other checks for terrorist ties and watch lists... This can last anywhere from a few days to a few months, for example those coming from Pakistan seem to have a long AP due to name checks and DHS checks... Basically everything with the relationship is OK, however they have to double check the intending immigrant... Just a state of the world today unfortunatly.
