HA I FRICKEN KNEW IT!!! After that operator told me yesterday to take a leap and not call back until April 16th, I talked to a really nice operator today and Tina's interview is May 3rd. At least we have a date. Now I'm calling on Tuesday to the embassy to try to reschedule it sooner. Worst they can say is "no".

Reporting on some late night drama here.

I turned off my laptop, got into my jammies getting ready to go to bed.

The Husband called to say goodnight and then remarked, "I just got an email from NVC."

Me *hyperventilating*: "OMG.OMG.OMG. What did it say?

Mr. Sachinky: "I didn't check it."

Me: "Why NOT? It is our INTERVIEW DATE, you great big doofus."

Mr. Sachinky: "Well I can't check it on my Blackberry while I'm talking to you, now, can I?"

Me: "Well then, HANG UP ON ME."

I got out of my bed, getting ready to swing into action. I turned the laptop back on, cursing the slow broadband connection that takes forever to connect and muttering all sorts of things regarding medical examinations and airline tickets under my breath as I logged into my hotmail account. Two emails marked "Packet (Family)" made my heart lurch. This is IT, I thought, happily.

Quickly, I opened the PDF files to find instructions on how to send our AOS packet in with a barcoded coversheet. Dated 03/24.

Aw Lordy, you're killing me.

Aww, the heartbreak. Somehow I can see myself doing the same thing. Have a flower! (F) Would hug yah, but you are too far away! (but I have to admit, the way you wrote it made me laugh!)

OMG they accepted my AOS. I was really worried that they will send me a RFE for putting gross income instead of the total income. I asked operator like three times to make sure, and she said they accepted my AOS and now waiting for DS230. YAY!

Did your AVR change that it was processed or did you talk to the operator?

rofl.gifrofl.gif Awww. Poor Sachinky. It's coming, missy. Great story, though. Had me getting all excited with you, too.

Matt!!! Hooray!!!! kicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gif Now just call/e-mail the embassy and request to be interviewed sooner.

I think when I get home tonight, I'm going to call and harass the NVC. Did you put my DS-230 in your system yet? Why not? When will you? What's taking so long? Can you just give me a May interview date now... 'Cause it's gonna happen either way. laughing.gif This is what happens when patients go home and there are only two of us left in the office with all of our work complete through Monday.

...........

So I want to know.... What's the best memory you've made with or have of your partner?

For me, it has to be the first time we met. I flew to visit him while he was studying in Australia. I had just grabbed my bags and cleared customs and was walking out to the meeting area. I saw him stading there, looking exactly the way he had in the hundreds of pictures and minutes of webcam chatting. So I'm eyeing him. Checking him out. Grinning like a fool and all that. Heck, yea! We're finally going to get some time together. My pulse is jumping and I know my cheeks are turning red. And then I realize... he hasn't spotted me yet. This sitlly boy doesn't know I'm me. So I giggle a little and keep working my way toward him through the line and the crowd of people. I walked all the way up to him and did the little prayer-like greeting and said hi before he realized who I was. Hehehehe. I still tease him all the time. "Are you gonna recognize me this time?" "You better be able to spot me this time." "Have you forgotten what I look like already?"

What a great story!!! (L)

I think the first time me and my husband met in person was a fond memory for me too. Months of being friends, there he was- at the top of the road, holding his little boy's hand. It was Christmas Eve 2008. My daughter was with me and the whole time I kept telling her as we were walking up the road to meet him.. "im so nervous!" she was a sweetheart, "mom, calm down. Im here." she grabbed my hand. As soon as I saw him, we kissed and it was over for me.

Another GREAT memory was when we took a day trip to Kingston with some friends- the same week he proposed to me last March. We went to a late party and he is NOT a drinker. He had one too many and instead of us heading to the next party downtown, we stayed in the hotel and I was nursing a very sick man. (poor baby) I remember laying next to him wishing I could take his pain away and be the one sick instead of him :( . He regrets that night thinking "he ruined my first time in Kingston" what he didnt realize was that night made me realize how important he was to me and how truly in love I was. Being with him, even while he was sick, was better than being anywhere else in the world.

Dam, I miss him now.. :crying:

Okay, this is technically Mr. Sachinky's favorite memory but it's mine too so it works. This is from the summer of 2008. It was our first summer together, school had just gotten out. Mr. Sachinky and I are huge soccer fans so we decided to go to East Rutherford and watch an international friendly between the U.S. and Argentina at the Meadowlands/Giants stadium. Our first weekend away as a real couple. We drove to New Jersey from Ithaca, New York, booked into the Sheraton across the stadium, where we got great rates on a room.

Turns out the teams were staying at the hotel too so we got to hang out with them in the bar which was uber-cool. The match was incredibly good fun. We made friends with the crazy drunk Argentines sitting all around us and cheered every slick move on the field in our broken Spanish. It started raining, pouring actually. We were soaked but we stayed through till the end. It was just amazing, the rain and the chanting and the sheer joy everywhere. Then we walked back to the hotel with our newly made friends, completely drunk, cutting across cars on the street, absolutely drenched in the rain but thoroughly happy.

Ended the night with room-service in bed. ;)
