My friend applied for a K3 and since she has a daughter she can't follow the CR1 path.

She got the 2 petitions approved and today she got the DS3032 and AOS fee bill in her email to pay and she doesn't know what to do.

Do you guys think NVC didn't realize she has a K4 on her petition or do they do send the bills even if they know it's a K3.

I know that when you want to switch from K3 to CR1 you can just pay the bills and they will understand you are following CR1.

Is it the same for K3? Do they send the Cr1 emails anyway?

I thought they would just forward her case to the Embassy.....

The K3/K4 was effectively killed on 2/1/10 - any K-3/K-4 sent to NVC past that date, with an I-130 attached, was administratively closed, and the petitioner MUST handle the I-130 processing at NVC now.

Suggest the petitioner file new I-130 on the daughter.

IF the K-3 left NVC prior to 2/1/10, though - she has some hope - suggest the petitioner call in to NVC, get the NVC casenumber (from a human) on the K-3, and inquire for status.

Really? I read in some threads that if they had a K4 in the petition it would be forwarded to the Embassy and allowed K3/4.

So NVC will just leave the kid behind? Just like that?

ps- She just got approved in March. So I guess she has no hope?

When NVC passed that rule as of 02/01/2010, a lot of us were wondering what would happen to beneficiaries with kids.

For laughs and giggles I called NVC AVR five minutes ago. The system stated that the NVC has forwarded our case to the embassy on March 19. This is completely wrong.

In reality:

Case left NVC Thursday March 11

Case held over weekend

Case delivered to embassy Monday March 15

Email for interview received Monday March 15.

It seems both the nvc operator and avr are not up to date. The most accurate system has been the LIF and email from nvc.

I THINK THE DATE GIVEN ON THE AVR IS THE DATE THAT THE EMBASSY CONFIRMS RECEIPT ( not sending ) OF THE package SENT FROM NVC.

yeah i don't think it needs notary. and it goes to japan anyway where they CAN read it.

but all this forwarding to the embassy and appointment making talk is making me nervous!! but guess i will worry about it when i get that far!

So, I decided to call the Mumbai IV unit this afternoon. Got through on one try, less than 30 seconds of waiting.

Apparently, nobody understands English anymore! Alicia--I had the same problem as you.

I asked AT LEAST three times if the embassy was completely booked for April or if there were any vacancies still left. The operator asked for my case number, typed it in (I could hear her clickin' away on the keyboard) and then pronounced, "No records were found of your case. Please contact NVC. They will schedule your case." Uh, thanks for telling me something I already know. I enunciated slowly, asking "Is April completely booked or are there still any spots left?"

"You will have to contact NVC, Ma'am."

I thought it was prudent to hang up.

I got my certificates translated to be on the safe side, and yes, it was notarized.

But.... in the Embassy website it says that if the paper is in Portuguese or English language it doesn't need to be translated.

It's up to you to have it done or not I guess.

I agree with you. I also translated my PCCs myself just in case. These ones I didn't get notarized though.

Just put on the bottom an statement that says I am fluent in both languages and signed it.

I read up on this and USCIS website it just has to have letter attesting that the translator is competent - my husband just did ours and we are sending in the IV packet today!

My time frame is the same as you. My package was also delivered on the 18th and they updated the AVR this morning.

I'd wait until tomorrow morning and check AVR again.

Hi,

We checked the same with the operator, he said, place the cover sheet with barcode on top of the documents, that will serve the purpose.
