so today my hubby went for the police certificate! we have to wait 2 weeks for him to pick it up on APRIL 02.

so i have a choice to send the IV package without the police certificate, and then send it in 2 weeks later, when he sends it to me, or wait and send it all together. it MAY be faster to send it without the PCC but taht may actually slow it down. who knows. either way it will be a good 2 weeks into april before they even look at the IV packet i am sure.

SPEAKING of which,

do i HAVE to get the translations of marriage and birth certs NOTARIZED? i think i should because a lot of links for tokyo say they need to be, some things say they don't. i don't think it takes too long or costs much to notarize them though. :star:

but can anyone advise us on this topic??

he wants to quit his job now. but the embassy website says you cannot quit a job before the interview. he called the embassy to ask and they told him to bring a change of status document. i wish he had asked WHAT document that is, cuse i sure don't know what document taht would be. does anyone know? or can he quit and not care? does it even really matter???

the only problem is his job is listed on the I-130 and DS-230. i can change the DS-230 before i send it, but will taht affect the application??? does anyone know what we should do?? :(:o

Thanks everyone!!!

I have not received anything from the NVC. When I called the NVC after CC they told me the embassy would schedule our appointment because our case was expedited. When I called and talked to the embassy, they told me the NVC should have emailed us....but they told me over the phone the date and time. They said the appointment letter just got sent on monday in the philippines. So my wife should be getting the notice hopefully before the end of the week.

As far as tracking your package from the NVC to the embassy, Once you know when your package left the NVC (ours left the 16th of March)...then you go to the DHL site and track by reference. So i put in EXP 15 Mar 2010A . you put the day prior to it leaving...and the spacing and formatting does have to be there otherwise it will tell you no records. Then you go down the list find your embassy....click the number on the left and it will give you current location of the package. You can sign up for txt or email updates for when it gets delivered.

We've just been issued an RFE today - haven't had any progress in two weeks and AVR still stated "your documents were received on 03/11", so I called and spoke to the operator, and they want us to resend I-864 and some additional stuff :( So I was wondering, what is the cover letter format for the RFE? Should we include the barcode on the cover letter since we are trying to mail this out ASAP? And what's the address for the I-864? The nice operator told us what the issue is - we didn't check a box in part 6, so we know what to do, just need to know what sort of cover letter to include. Please help! :)

IF YOU CONFIRM WITH NVC/OPERATOR THAT YOU HAVE AN RFE:

--BARCODED cover sheet (AOS/DS230) you printed from the website, but when addressing your package, change the Attention line from "ATTN: CMR" to "ATTN: DR"

--Your own Cover Sheet listing the documents you're sending and reason with REQUEST FOR EVIDENCE RESPONSE written in huge fonts on the top of the cover letter.

--Include the documents missing or corrected based on operator suggestion and your own common sense.

Address it to:

National Visa Center

Attn.: DR

31 Rochester Avenue, suite 100

Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909

Hope this helps.

Tokyo--If current timelines hold -- that is, NVC doesn't pick up or lose pace--you can expect to be done by April 21, no matter which option you choose.

So you can either wait and then send in your package with the PCC to NVC.

Or you can send it in now and then send the PCC when you get the RFE.

Kirthiraj and Scott--Thanks a lot! God, it is such a RELIEF. While I would kill for an April interview, I think realistically, we're looking at early May. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for the date (Bombay schedules at the end of the month) so that I can start packing, getting my medical lined up and buy my tickets! w00t! I'm gonna call NVC and see how busy Mumbai is for April and if it is all booked up.

Mikey--Thanks! Hope you get those RFEs resolved soon and get back on the NVC train.
