sachinky-once you send all the documents with your ds 230 to nvc ?do they also want the beneficiary to deposit same documents or more to near vfs centre. i thought that this process applies to k1 or k3 visa applicants?

No, NVC will send you a checklist after the interview date has been assigned with things marked as "required" and "not required as original was submitted to NVC," etc. I forget the abbreviations but you can look it up.

You can always take a copy of the DS230 package to the interview. But it is not required.

Each regional VFS has their own rules it seems about what it is to be submitted to them.

Check out the VFS website. It has things listed that is to be submitted to them. Basic stuff, medical, AOS package, I forget what else--I have a list saved somewhere.

How's everyone doing on their 2009 taxes? :bonk:

Ours are being filed jointly, I think they'll get sent out on Monday--can't wait for the refund!

Well I reached a little speedbump there. I didn't receive all of my wage documents from my employers because the tutoring company I work for on the weekends was bought out by a new owner and the previous owners had switched payroll companies so I should have received 3 from that job and only have 1. No problem, I thought, I'll just head over to the local IRS office and get the W2 transcript (which I need for the I-864 anyway)and get the taxes done this week while I was on break. So Thursday I went over there and they informed me that they won't have those in the office until May. UGH! So I'm working on getting those documents from the former owners and have decided I'll just have to do the 06, 07, and 08 for the I-864, which bums me out...I was trying to save a step and let there be one less thing the embassy could have reason to delay us on. I'm still trying but it's looking like my husband is going to have all of his documents soon so if he gets them to me before I get the tax forms, then we'll just have to deal with that. Either way I'll have 09 done in time for the interview. It just blows my original plan. What else is new???

Cool on the refund for you!!

How is everyone doing today? More Log in Fails and case completes to come this week.

My only advice to everyone that is waiting is to "not stress yourselves out" because it will not make the process go faster. And stop calling the NVC operators so often because that too will stress you out. I know some of you think of them as useless and unhelpful, but please remember they are not processing your cases.

Don't be mad, be glad you are done with the horrible wait during the USCIS stage. At least now you know that you have/had some kind of control during the NVC stage. Their speed is dependent on how soon you pay the bills, how soon you send in your documents and how thorough you checked your papers before you sent them in to NVC.

To the newly approved people just a few reminders as you wait for your case number:

Read the Guides thoroughly

Gather your documents

Read the entire March 2010 edition of the NVC from the first page...there is a lot of good advice on many of the pages

Try not to freak out about processing time at NVC, it fluctuates and can be affected by bad weather (the lovely snow storm last month) and wicked hackers (payment portal down for more than a week)among other things.

Happy Saturday!

Mrs. Thomas

NVC:

Actually, no. If you filed the I-130 using a lawyer, then he/she will automatically be designated as the agent at the NVC stage.

The AOS/IV bills will arrive together. The DS3032 is not mailed along with the AOS fee link.

Ok I do have an attorney but I'm not sure when the DS3032 will need to be sent to NVC. Are you saying that since he's choice of agent that there is no need for my step daughter to sign and mail this form to me?
