I bugged my husband to get his employment letter, his tax stuff and all of that was ready in November. The reason I asked him to include the bank statement is because a copy of our joint bank account was sent in with our I-130 petition as bonafide evidence.

How did you get your name on a joint bank account? I assume this is a U.S. bank account. This could be opening up a can of worms when one is not needed. Let's hope I am wrong but it looks NVC might in the process of verifying your "tax id number" and verifying how YOU can get on a bank account without a greencard or social security number.

Secondly, I think having your name on his bank account means his assets might be looked at differently. Note, the NVC is looking at your husband's assets since your assets might not continue in the U.S.

It would seem if you were living in the U.S. right now under a k3 or k1 visa and awaiting for adjustment of status, then it makes sense to have your name as a joint accountholder to show a bonofide relationship. But you are NOT living in the U.S. and thus it might complicate things a bit.

My wild guess is that if you are living outside the U.S. and married to a U.S. citizen, the best proof of a bonifide marriage would be something related to constent and continuuous communication between you and your husband, photos, trips, and ceremony.

Just something to consider.

**** filed K3/CR1 concurrently. My wife and I both work/live overseas. The following timeline continues from the approval of the K3 VISA.

No.

I did not send that in either. It's not required for AOS. I basically sent a copy of my oversea employment contract which really doesn't do much for me since the income is considered negative income. I had to use a co-sponsor that is self-employed. All I sent for his part was three years tax transcript and a copy of his business name and license.

Today, I completed my paperwork and attorneys office also did not want to take those or my banking statements. Said if it's not required then no point to submit so will see once the case will be in process what will happen. Praying for no RFE!

Hey SPSguy,

I was in the U.S. for four years prior to this. So I have a SSN and all that jazz. I worked legally on campus and filed my taxes all four years. No issues opening a joint bank account when we were living together post-graduation. The bank just wanted to look at my passport and F-1 visa. It is a US bank account and all funds are in USD. My other negligible assets in my sole bank account were not included on the I-864.

Well going to work this afternoon gave me time to get over being so irritated at least :D I can't believe how damned vague the Department of State is when it comes to exactly what they want. All this time I thought I had every document they wanted and was really mad when I learned I needed the stupid NBI and/instead of a police clearance. All's good though I guess. The wife sent one out via DHL a couple of hours ago and it'll be here Friday. I'll get the AOS packet sent in the morning and IV will go out on Friday. At this point, even one extra day just burns me!! Congrats to all the CC and SIF's, and Sachi...keep hangin in :)

Firstly, a huge congratulations to CP2009 and SPSGuy on your interview dates! How awesome!

The Wrests--Congrats on your log in failed! :)

My news: No news. I can still sign in. I give up. I don't care anymore. I'm going to stop logging in, calling the AVR, eventually the interview date will be in my email and I will know that I'm done. I'm tired of this constant stressing and this daily heartbreak first thing in the morning. This is ridiculous. How can 2 bank statements that have apparently been under review since 03/05 take this freakin' long? And I know I shouldn't be, but I can't help but be mad at my husband for overlooking something as simple as bank statements that I explicitly mentioned in his AOS contents checklist. We could've been done by now and even had our interview dates in our pockets by now. GAH. GAH. GAH. I haven't seen him in 205 days and I want to die. :crying:

Sachi, my heart just goes out to you. My husband and I have been married for 8.5 months and I haven't seen him in 7.5 of those months. But if I think about that then I get sad and upset. I work a lot and so we also only get to talk on the weekends, and sometimes on the phone during the week...it makes the end of the week very difficult. I am more prone to be emotional then and then on some evenings after we have talked I am emotional again because I miss him so much. The plane tickets to Morocco are very expensive too. I had hoped to visit him at least once during all of this, as I am a teacher and have vacations. The best bet was at Christmas but by the time we knew my husband wasn't going to have an out of town job the prices were nearing $2,000 and then bumped up quickly to almost $4,000, neither of which were affordable or even made any sense to spend when we have so much to do to get ready for him to be here. I just say all this to let you know you are not alone. I also SINCERELY appreciate all of your wisdom in this process as it has helped me out immensely. I know it doesn't ease the pain of separation you are feeling but just know that there are those here on VJ that appreciate you and hate to see you so unhappy. Hang in there...remember how awful the waiting was for USCIS, that pain is fading as we move through NVC and towards the interview. But as with life, stop and smell the roses and enjoy your husband and the time you have with him as best you can. How we handle this time builds the foundation for how we will deal with struggles throughout our respective marriages. How I get through this is to focus on what I DO have and also the fact that my husband reassures me when I need it and I reassure him when he needs it. In the end, we will all appreciate our SO's so much more than if we had it too easy. That is a blessing, for sure.

Have a GREAT day!

Only China, Canada and Chile can file electronically at this time. We are going the EP route. There is a thread about it in the Canada region forum. There is also information in Wiki about it. Not sure if it is faster, once it gets to NVC, but it saves a few days and dollars by emailing instead of snailmail.

Morning all!

Sachi, I understand you. To be honest I'm feeling the same as you. I don't even want to login anymore because it makes me frustrated. So now, I'm only checking AVR and log in page when it's the 3pm and 10pm updates.

Since I don't know if I'll be RFEd I still have to keep checking AVR.

Hubby called yesterday and it sounded that nobody reviewed our packages yet. What made me very sad. It's probably sitting there, waiting for some soul to get it and review it.

So. I hear ya! Try to take a break and as hubby always say... it will happen.

Wish you all a great day!!!!!!!!!!!
