unfortunately I wont be able to attend the interview...too much going on at work and I had to fight tooth and nail to get the last vacation. April-August is really busy for me. I dont think I will be able to go and pick Mhay up either....although we were looking at the ticket prices for me....not very good...a lot of money to spend for just a week or 2....but we are still looking and waiting.

It needs to be monday and the NVC needs to give a bunch of SIF.

How's everyone liking the new layout of VisaJourney.com?

Not sure yet. When I first logged in, I though maybe I am at the wrong site. But I guess it will take some getting used to.

Aaah. Found it.

Monday--are we there yet?

Happy Sunday, y'all.

Question: How many petitioners are attending the interview with their spouses?

Not me.

I guess you can't edit your reply anymore or maybe I just havent figured it out. Anyone know how?

Was trying to edit my reply about going with hubby to the interview;

Not me. I would love to go but it would be hard to travel with a baby alone & there is no way I would go without her. But at the same time Grandma is so desperate to meet her first grandaughter. :(

I don't think it's necessary in any country for the petitioner to be there. Remember, it's not the petitioner who is applying for the immigrant visa, it's the beneficiary. For an embassy to expect a person who is domiciled in the USA to leave their work and daily routine just to attend an interview for another person is ridiculous. I'm only going because I want to, not because I have to.

If you have a W-2 from 2009 that would be good as lately NVC is asking for the latest year tax return/w-2. Plus if you are not sending tax transcripts, you might want to include W-2s for 2008-2006 also.

Ok read this aneurys

The only people required to appear in person on the interview date of any immigrant visa petition are the principle beneficiary (regardless of age) and other beneficiaries aged fourteen or older.   Though the petitioner’s presence is not required, we strongly encourage petitioners who have petitioned their stepchild, spouse or fiancée to accompany them to the interview.

Important Note #1: The consular officer cannot decide whether or not to issue you an immigrant visa until you formally apply and are interviewed. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you NOT make non-refundable flight arrangements or other travel plans until and unless you actually receive your visa.

Important Note #2: Because of lack of space, only applicants, the petitioner and their registered attorney will be allowed access to the Consular Section compound. However, children under age 18 may be accompanied by one of their parents or a guardian.

Questions?  If you have any questions, please contact our Visa Information Center. Persons in the Dominican Republic must purchase a personal identification number (PIN) at any Banco Popular branch (either the equivalent of US$5.25 in Dominican pesos for five minutes of access, or the equivalent of US$16.00 in Dominican pesos for 15 minutes). The PIN will become active 24 hours after you purchase it. Then call 1-809-200-3232. Persons in the United States must call 1-877-804-5402, and the call will be charged to their credit card. The Center is staffed with operators Monday through Friday (including most American and Dominican holidays) from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.
