NVC March 2010 Edition!

I noticed that on the DS-230 my wife sent me, she left a couple of boxes empty (instead of putting N/A) and in the education portion it says degree/diploma...in those boxes she put Graduate. Should I have her do another and send it to me now or will it be ok like it is? Should I hand write N/A in the empty ones and let the "Graduate" go??

under degree/diploma portion, i think she should put there specifically what degree is in her diploma she was a graduate of.. for example, if she was a high school graduate put there high school.. if she was a college graduate and took up civil engineering course (just an example), then put Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (or just Civil Engineering, if it won't fit in the box).. that's how i filled out my DS230.. i also put N/A on the boxes not applicable to me..

Estrella and Sachi - I had a dream last night that I logged on here and read that both you cases got complete and you both got april interviews, it was awesome. I woke up feeling really happy for you. Then I realised it was a ream and I felt so sad. It kinda broke my heart. For some reason I felt it was my fault? Wierd thing when dreams get that real.

I hope you both get it soon though, so you can make my dreams come true

Finally they received my DS230 and now they issued RFE

Saying they want the ORIGINAL birth Certificate and ORIGINAL death Certificate.

But I already sent the original certificates.

Birth Certificate: Nowadays Chennai City (India) went with paperless, and everything is online now, if we need any certificate we have to just download from the website (City NO more issuing any certificates in paper). I was impressed with. This message is in the bottom of the certificate. But this fu***** NVC not reading that message and asking for Original. They are saying they won't accept it, I have to get the original from CITY. But city said that according to the paperless act they WON'T issue any certificates and even if you inssist they will just take the print out from the website and give it to us.

Death Certificate: In Albany, NY county, for the death certificate they won't put any ink seal in the certificate, but they will apply the embossing technology and put the seal along the paper itself, you can only feel the symbol if you touch it. And they are saying its not acceptable and they need with seal

With these new technology, I'm in trouble. NVC don't train the reviewer to look for these things. We are paying $400 to do these jobs and they are driving us crazy.

Does any one had this kind of problem before?

Life2live--Sorry about your RFE. Sucks, man. Sucks bigtime. Do you have your original X or XII pass certificate? Those sometimes work in place of birth certificate. Ask if that will be acceptable as it is commonly used in India for age verification. Or go to the municipality. Ask them to put some stamps/seals on the printed copy of the birth certificate. Something to the effect of that this is a certified true copy.

No idea about the death certificate.

I asked the operator, she said only Birth Certificate is acceptable. Other option is to get Birth Record NOT found/ Not Available Certificate. How come municipality will issue Birth Record not found certificate..

Alright folks, here's my update.

I was on my way to work this morning when I thought I should listen to the AVR just for kicks. And the message was still the same except the date had changed again. It said missing information,letter sent on the 10th. So I was like, I got through to the AVR on the first try, maybe its not that busy, and I ended up waiting for 10 minutes before I reached Natalie. She said they had finally reviewed my DS-230 and put it in and that they still require the PCC from the police authorities and that I could use their email to show as proof to obtain one since my wife's local police district wont issue it unless they see a direct letter requesting it. I hope the email suffices.

So that's where I am at right now. Told the wife, we were both prepared for this all along, so no shocker here.

Now where's that May interviews thread again?
