Sachinky,

I didn't know you could call and request an interview date? Isn't this "assigned" by NVC and not requested by us?

I try to let things flow by their process. If you bother the operators too much, they could accidently type something into your file. Last thing you want to do is have all sorts of notes and problems displayed on a computer screen. I'll wait a few more days to call a live operator. I am at a 12 hour difference and getting NVC online can be difficult for me. AVR works best for me. ANd from what I've heard on this forum, it seems to be the most accurate.

We have heard operators giving wrong information or incomplete info.

I pray you are right tho, about getting an interview date in April. that would be a blessing.

SPSguy--Well, yes, it is assigned by NVC. If you ask an operator, they will give you the date/time if you've been assigned a date already and the email appointment letter will follow soon after. If you haven't been assigned a date, they will ask you to call back in a few days and if you've missed this round they will ask you to call after a few weeks for the next round of scheduling.

Great. Once the AVR is updated I'll let 5 days pass before calling NVC for an interview date. If the avr doesn't update in the next 3 days, I'll call them regardless.

In general it looks like if we send everything in correctly, NVC usually gets things done in about a week's time. For example, it took them a week to process my I 864. And it took them a week to process the DS 230. Let's give them a week to completely finish my case. There's really no reason to keep calling for updates everyday because it gets the operators upset since they have no new update and it ties up the phone lines.

I am seeing people get interview dates about one to two weeks after case completion.

Is it me or does it seem if the NVC doesn't get things done in a week's time, there's usually a delay or RFE of some time?

Hey there, quick question (hopefully)...

We are working on getting my husband here from Costa Rica, but my father will be the one to sponsor him via AOS. This is possible, but how? Any links to information would be appreciated. There's too much contradiction & I am getting confused. I want to have it figured out before the time comes.

Thanks

SPS--Well, you'll know regardless. I just meant this is the interview scheduling week (8-12 March) so I thought maybe you'd be curious to know if you made it in time for an April interview. Clearly, you have a lot of patience which I suspect most of us lack.I'd say 7-8 days after you've sent in your packets, is a good time to expect a case complete, currently.

Hi! Welcome! Have you received your NOA2 yet?

First thing, I would recommend is that you print out the I-864 form and read the instructions about 2 times. Mark out the relevant portions and ask any questions you might have after that. I would suggest you read the guides for a comprehensive idea about how the AOS packet will comprise.

Recommended AOS package:

I-864 Coversheet (with barcode) for payment of $70

Form I-864 (signed and dated)

2008 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.

2007 Federal Tax Return and W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.

2006 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS Tax Transcript

Letter of Employment

Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months

Bank Statements.

Some people are choosing to send in 2009 W2s.

Remember, the USC petitioner will file a I-864 regardless of income. If your joint sponsor lives in the same household as the petitioner, then they will use I-864A. If they live in a separate residence, then they will fill in another I-864.

For your joint sponsor you will need proof of their citizenship/residency. For household member, you will need proof of relationship and same household/residence.

Guys... It's 3AM. I'm still up and still struggling with this I-864 for my joint sponsor. Or, to be correct, with the I-864A for her husband. No matter what, the numbers don't add up. I want to scream. And cry. And sleep. Please help me figure this mess out.

Joint Sponsor: 1 job the entire year = $13017 per 2009 W2

Joint Sponsor's Husband: 1 job = $28545 per 2009 W2

Joint Sponsor's Husband: unemployment = $3240 per 2009 1099-G

2009 AGI for Joint Sponsor and Husband: $43484

So... Her I-864 first.

Line 23. Current individual annual income: $13017

Line 24b. Income from household member: $31785

Line 24c. Total household income: $44802

Ugh! It doesn't match Line 25. 2009 AGI $43484

AGI excludes first $24000 of unemployment income, taking unemployment to $840. No other adjustments.

I'm going crazy. The numbers just don't work. Is her 1040 incorrect? If the amounts on line 24c and 25 don't match, is that alright? I've got the W2s to prove each of their individual incomes and the 2009 tax returns to prove their 2009 AGI as required for line 25.

Please help me understand where my error is. I can't see it on my own.

Sachinky, THANKS for your info. OH HOW AWESOME my approval date falls right on the 8th. I'll call on Friday to see if I am included. Otherwise, it's a slippery slope if I call today or tomorrow and NVC says no it's not scheduled then have to call on Thursday ( sad, disappointed, ticked, wondering, etc.. ). And when Thursday comes, it's still not scheduled, then goes another 48 hours of frustration.

My point is that calling NVC once a day or five times a day will not speed up the process. We only confuse ourselves more. One day avr might say missing docs, the next it says missing ds 230, then checklist, then checklist received, then missing/incomplete info, and the list goes on and on. Don't get me wrong, because I got nervous too when I received the false RFE.

I mean who wouldn't be upset to hear there's missing docs when they've worked so hard to prepare and overnight everything.

But it seems all these false RFEs were caused by all of our impatience with the system. WE ARE ACTUALLY MORE ANXIOUS AND MORE IN TUNE WITH OUR CASE THAN NVC. So it makes sense for nvc to be a step or two behind us.

Had we just relax a bit things would have unfolded the way it was intended. Bottom line is VJers are way way to quick for NVC's reality. We're too smart. And we're too fast. This can create impatience in all of us.

WE should wait 7-10 days after sending our docs to check status update. If it's past ten days, then it's time to call and speak to a live operator. At that time, the operator will have a more accurate and timely information about the particular case.
