Validity of Authenticated Documents

Hello fellow members of VJ,

I would like to ask a quick question. I sent my mom who is the legal guardian of my kids all the needed authenticated documents like Special Power of Attorney, and other documents who are all authenticated in March of 2009.

My question is next month will be MArch..would this documents be still valid? or Do i need to get a new one? My mom still needs this papers for the kid's interview and medical in Manila anytime from now.I mean is there an expiration of such documents once the date it was authenticated expires??

hi there vern! as far as SPA, if you indicated an expiration on it (excat date or implied), that's the end of its effectivity.

otherwise, it's still good

i'm not sure about other docs though

Thank you Zen..the documents did not say any expiration date but only the date it was authenticated. It only says this document is not valid if altered in any way.

Still don't know if i need to get a new one since this was all authenticated last year.

by the way one document is still good till May 2014.

there you go, that's how long your SPA is going to be good for.

as for the other documents, since you did not specify what they are, they should also be good for your use unless it's a specific doc that requires a more recent authenticated version.

generally though, once authenticated, a document is already authenticated w/out expiration, again, unless an agency requires you to get done again for whatever reason
