Just study your history and see what Nixon's price controls did to the economy.

Its sucks when you can't gouge sky high profits any longer doesn't it?

A business can still succeed with price controls, It just creates more incentive to be efficient. Without some sort of price pressure, the incentive just is not there and it will never happen.

I really don't expect competition to solve it in this case, as up to now, there is very little competition in the health care market. Between the anti-trust exemption and the lobby power of the health insurance providers is probably not going to change.
