Two weeks today since I emailed my request for news (as we've been waiting 10 WEEKS tomorrow) since sending in additional proof of domicile. The auto-response said they would respond "within two weeks." Nothing.

Hope my Senators and Congresswoman have better luck.

If you asked them about something they deem to have been answered in the auto-response FAQ that they send, they won't respond with a personal answer. And they have very broad leeway with what questions they consider to be covered by the FAQ.

If you believe your question is unique, resend it and ask specifically for a personal response.

The Senator called for us in October and heard back from them within a week so I hope they are as fast. I know how you feel. We were required to send a couple extra documents after our interview that we finally got together and sent out on Friday along with my wife's passport. According to the tracking number it has arrived at the post office box address they gave us to send everything to, so now we just play the waiting game and hope it doesn't actually take another four or five weeks or sit in a pile somewhere for weeks on end.

I also sent an e-mail to the Montreal Consulate on the 11th with a question about the requirements and have yet to receive a response.

I have emailed the consulate a couple of times since I mailed my passport to them and have not had a response. Our packages are probably sitting in a pile somewhere collecting dust

My passport has been at Mtl Consulate since Jan. 4, 2010

The Consulate is not responding to email nor answering the phone.

Got Senator involved and heard today from his office the backlog is because of the Haiti situation.

The Senator's assistant mentioned he would try and expedite my passport.

Holy #######, I could be waiting that long?

What will the expiry of the visa be? I mean, if they date it from the day I got the email of my case being approved, but then they don't issue it for months, is the 6 month expiry still the same?

This is ridiculous.

Yes it is. It seems everybody in AP is waiting an absurd amount of time. Our documents were just indicated as received (according to the tracking number not anything from the Consulate obviously) earlier this week. Sounds like we have a few months not weeks yet to wait. You know if I had known Montreal was so slow when we started this whole process I would have just stayed in Canada, kept the job I wasn't crazy about, and just waited it out there. This waiting is just nuts.

My wife and I are nearing the point of just forgetting it all and settling down back in Canada. I really hate this #######. Living in limbo for months and months and months on end severely wears on a person. The guys at work can't believe we've waited as long as we have. Anybody who has not immigrated from Canada to the U.S. has no clue how long and trying it is. I've yet to meet anyone who even knew this nonsense was going on for countless Canadians.

Maybe I should have posted in one of the venting threads :crying:

I understand your pain, trust me. My husband and I have not seen each other since October 2008!

My heart breaks at the thought of having to wait months and months to get my passport and visa when we have already waiting apart for so long :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

you mean HAD been,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

So much for the Visa approval.

Wife got through to the Mtl Consulate this morning via phone and was told that I need to get the third approval before the passport is sent back to me and this may be 2-4 weeks. Passport received at Mtl Consulate Jan. 4, 2010.

Just one hour ago I got an email from my lawyer stating that I need to file an I-601. The lawyer just got this information today.

Any idea how long the I-601 process takes?

We both are in tears now after waiting almost 2 1/2 years from submission of I-130.

I did have in hand a completed I-601 during my interview but it was not requested. My lawyer suggested this in case it was required, therefore I could immediately submit it.

I thought once I was notified that I was approved and asked to submit passport all we would have to do is wait 1 week then POE.

Never was aware of 3 approvals being required. Anyone else?

Good Luck everyone else. We have certainly NOT had ANY.
