Damn really? What's the new green card??

I'm wondering if mine is delayed because they waited until yesterday to bother processing it. That would suck. :(

I wouldn't doubt it. We were so close to the date of when they were releasing the new card.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=79bd3893c4888210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

That is the link to the new green card. I don't know if i like radio frequency thing i heard to much worrisome things about it lol. Did you get an e-mail saying they ordered production of your card again?

Yeah hopefully they hurry up and get them sent out!

Had the interview yesterday and was approved.

The IO had a serious look on his face the whole time except on maybe one or two occasions, when my husband cracked a joke. He started off by going through our application and verifying our names, address, etc. Yes, he did ask all those questions on that checklist, and of course I said "no", but he was staring at me so intently that I felt nervous and almost like I was guilty of something. ("Yes, I guess I am a terrorist! I'm sorry!") We showed our joint health insurance, life insurance, mail addressed to both of us, and a stack of pictures (collage style). He really looked at the ones of the courthouse ceremony. We were really nervous (at least I was), so I guess we were pretty stiff and our loveydoveyness didn't show much. However, I think our affection for each other came out when he asked us how we met and then we helped each other tell the story, laughing and joking throughout it. We'd hardly finished it when he turned to his computer and printed out the removal of conditions paper and said we were approved.

Thanks nats, EmVee, OC! I'm glad to have this over with, and hope the ROC process is a little less painful. I think by then it will be much easier to prove our relationship, as we'll have even more evidence and such. And hopefully we will be less nervous and therefore look more natural together. :P

And thank you to all fellow Feb filers as well as all other contributors to VJ whose posts I have counted on for guidance (and time benchmarking!) throughout this whole process.

Edit to add: And good luck OC!!

Hello :) Yes, I was approved. You can read my feedback here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?trim=no&cty=Santa%20Ana%20CA&cnty=&page=1&dfilter=5

It was pretty smooth. The IO was all smiley and nice, but seemed to be annoyed every time my lawyer said anything. Also while she was interviewing us, her colleague came into the office holding a big folder and asked her what does she want to do with this file since she denied it. I was like "OMFG!" DENIED IT?? LOL

Other than that all good! I almost feel like I have been handcuffed all that time being out of status and now my handcuffs had been taken off of me :D

I saw a post somewhere that people are receiving new design green cards already. So I am pretty sure that all of us will receive the new ones too...

Wow, so are we all done? That's great!

No GC yet, they sent me an email the day after that new one was released and said they had ordered card production now, it had been delayed while they waited for the new GC to come out. *sigh* So I'm hoping it comes soon. I went to the SS office with my EAD but he wouldn't issue me a SSN because he said I'd have to come back with the GC for a whole new one, so it was pointless. He wants me to just wait for the GC.

Meanwhile, I was offered a job at a bank but now they won't hire me until I have a SSN and they can run a background check. So she said if the job is still available by the time I get my SSN that's fine, but.... No GC yet, so even if I get it Monday it will still be another 2 to 3 weeks for the SS office to issue my new info. I don't have much hope the job will still be open.

Are you sure that it takes 2 to 3 weeks for a SSN? When i called our local office he told me it only takes a week in the mail if you file it in person. Were you not going to do it in person? I do not want to have to wait 3 weeks if he gave me false information. I am waiting forever just for the dang GC!!

Maybe it's different in California? I went there in person and he said to me he wasn't giving me a SSN for my EAD because the green card would probably be here in a couple of weeks and it would take longer for the SSN to get here. So basically I'd just be doing it for nothing.

This is again another proof of their system being really stupid - why on earth they would even issue EAD, if actually it is pretty useless?

I guess all of us will just have to have a little more patience :)

EmVee maybe if you don't get this job, there will be a better job waiting for you when you receive the green card and SSN ;) you never know..
