Nah, we just brought in his 2008/07 tax stuff, and they didn't ask to see anything like that.

I didn't copy any of the forms we'd filled out, I just brought the originals of everything I'd copied and mailed, photos, and copies & originals of extra supporting evidence I'd gathered. So basically I had one folder marked Originals and one folder marked Copies. In the end, he only wanted to see the original lease agreement and take a copy, and after that he was happy to just take the copies I'd made of bank info, netflix account, gas bill and gym membership. He gave me back the photos I'd mailed in, and the certified copies of our birth certs, and said regular photocopies were okay.

And even though some of the online stuff still says "Initial Review" I got my EAD today. :D Terrible picture, lol. Should I go to the SS office with it and try to get a SSN or just wait for the green card to do all that?? Do you guys think it makes a difference?

Good to know :)

I read somewhere that when you go with your EAD to SSN office, it takes them longer to verify it with the DHS than if you went with green card. So actually you might just delay it. I would just wait for the green card.. It's somewhere in the mail for you anyway.. Couple of days won't change anything :)

Well I just got back from my interview and i was APPROVED!! The weight on my shoulders and gut sickness is gone lol!!

Haha sorry guys i was at home for like a few seconds and just thought i would let you know i got approved first..

We got there at 10:10 my interview was supposed to be at 10:30 but it was packed. So the guy kept coming out and saying who was next and it was taking forever till he finally got to me which was at 11:10. We got a really nice Russian guy who was cracking jokes all along the hallway into his office. We got in there and he told me he had to look through my file because he hadn't yet, and he apologized for the wait he said he was behind.. He asked for an I-94 or a passport which of course i didn't have, turns out i had never even had one to begin with who knows why. He said that he was going to trust me and not think i jumped the fence from Canada lol. He ran through just a couple of questions like name, address, birth date etc.. Straight forward easy stuff. He made a lot of small talk about random stuff which was just fine with me since he was really nice. He never asked me about my long overstay never came up at all, he actually asked why i didn't wait till we were married for 2 years (since we were close to our 2 year mark) so i could've just got the 10 year green card. He asked if i had any more evidence that i didn't submit which i did and he said ok i will need those at the end, and he never asked for it or even looked at anything that i spent all this time making all nice and sorting for him !! He never said anything about me being approved he just handed me a yellow piece of paper and said read this and it said "Welcome to America You're Approved" sorta thing i was like speechless. I spent all this time worrying and i got the best person i could think of.

I just got an e-mail saying my green card has been ordered! That was quick. EmVee did you get an e-mail like that right after you were approved?

Congratulations! It sounded like a pretty easy interview. I don't think a lot of people get such a bless :)

Can I ask how long was your overstay? Because I'm also on one.

Congratulations again!!! Sometimes after such interviews I feel relief that not all IOs give you a hard time and grill you.

Well i came to the US in September of 06 we got married in August of 08 so almost a 4 year over stay. I can't believe he didn't even ask or care. He told me they only run into problems if they suspect the marriage is fake , which he said wasn't the case for me. I was so worried i was going to get grilled about my over stay because i have read horror stories on here of people being denied.

I have the emails disabled, but I checked the website and it didn't come up for a day or two. Though at interview, the guy was fiddling about on the computer and he said to me "I'm ordering the green card for you now, so it should be there within a couple of weeks. If it's not don't panic, it could take up to 90 days."

I'm hoping it's more a couple of weeks than 90 days though! I've started applying for jobs and getting interview calls. (On that note - sigh. It was so nice having an 8 month break from work, I really don't want to go back. LOL!)

How are you applying for jobs without a social security number? I tried yesterday but everywhere wants a social. I am so annoyed i wanna work, it has been almost 4 years lol. I was hoping my card would get here by next Saturday at the latest he never told me 90 days  lol! I looked at some other timelines and it was about a week and a half on average for there cards so hopefully you get yours this week and i get mine next! Does the EAD have a social on it? I am guessing not.

Hello, Feb Filers

I had interview yesterday and thought some of you might be interested in my story.

When we arrived at Federal building around 13:00, there wasn’t long line, but was moving slow.

We got into the building around 13:20 and turned in our appointment letter at window.

There were roughly 40 people in the room.

We were called around 14:10 (Our appointment was for 13:45).

It was Hawaiian lady. I am Japanese American with dark skin, so look like Hawaiian, we got married in Hawaii, We have been to Hawaii many times, and we will have wedding ceremony in Hawaii, so good indication!!

After sworn out, IO asked us to see if we had another supporting document that we want to submit, and I told her that I have pictures (I ran to CVS early in the morning on this day for one hour photo), she said that she would check later, but as a result she never checked. She started off normal question’ Where and When did you guys meet?” I answered and she seemed to be satisfied, except 9 yrs relationship… that she wanted to know more, “Why did you wait to get married till now? , was her parents happy about marriage? , who put effort to keep relationship etc… “ not as seem like IO's sound, it was more likely questions from frined and relatives, just one word, “OUT OF CURIOSITY” This took most part of our interview, as she was checking I-485, she threw couple questions to my wife, just confirmation of info that were on I-485, and when IO reached to my wife’s passport, she pulled her I-94 out, as you know, it is another good sign, and she said, "I will give you a residency card" , and I acted like nothing, and looked at my wife, she looked like she didn’t hear anything (She actually missed that one), so I thought I mis-heard this or something, coz it was still middle of interview. Tought too early to be informed.

We had little bit of problem with address on our both driver’s license that still show our parent’s house address. She just briefly explained how it could be a problem.

Overall, I felt like that we were talking with my grandma, she pointed out and addressed how marriage life should be and husband treats his wife etc…

At the end of meeting, she printed out a letter and stamped for approval.

It was long journey and I really think that we could not accomplish without everyone’s help here, so I greatly appreciated all help and encouragement I got from you guys.

I hope that I would see your successful stories shortly, too.

Hi guys quick question.. :help:

I'm just wondering why my I-485 and I-130 are being touched now for the longest time.

It gives me more stress especially my interview is in less than 3 weeks.

Can somebody enlighten me on what purpose is this re-inspection? :o

Thanks Feb filers in advanced. Your more experienced. lol

Just got back from my interview and guess whats in the mail. MY EAD...thank god! I posted my interview in another forum but i will copy if here

My wife and I just got back from our interview. We arrived at 10:00am for a 10:30am appointment but didnt get called until 11:30am. We had a very strange interview that lasted only about 15mins, ill try to sum it and not do too much writing.

We were greeted by a white guy that seem pretty pleasant and was invited into his office. We swore and was seated. He started off my asking 3 questions: What is our addresss, how we met and if her mom knew we were married. We confirmed our address, and stated that we met through her best friend and that her mom knew we were married.

So after that he asked if we brought any documents with us and we handed him a stack of documents. He had a sheet and started ticking off everything we had. He asked if we had affidavits from her family, which was the only thing we didnt have. We explained to him that we didnt know that that was a requirment but we brought photos with her family. He took a look at those and ask a few questions about her family. He seemed pleased continued to look through the things we brought and notice that we had transcipts from the same school and said, "Oh you both go to USF, thats where u met right"? And we both said no, we met throught her best friend Lucy, who also goes to that school. I thought it was very strange that we had already told him that at the begining and watched him wrote down we met through a friend, yet he still tried to imply that we met somewhere else. He continued to do this a few others times....he would say "Your address is 1234 right"? which wasnt our address instead of just asking what is your address? Obviously this was his tactic and he was trying to confuse us and catch us in a lie but we had nothing to lie about and was quick in correcting him.

So after he realize that that wasnt working he ask us what would my wife mother say if he called her and ask her what was her daugther marital status and we said she would say shes married. So he said well give me her # let me call her. My wife replied I dont know my moms # out of my head but its in my phone I can go get it out of the car. So the interview starts going all out saying that is unbelieveable that she doesnt know her own mothers # and how everyone know their mothers #. For the next 5mins he was basically asking my wife to verify questions about her moms age, date of birth and address which she answered all. He threw his pen on the desk and started to crazy asking who doesnt know their moms #. (at the point I am just laughing in my head because he looked so scripted, it was almost like watchin a bad actor. you can tell he is a nice guy but was trying to act hard but really wasnt intimidating us at all). This was when I stepped in and was liek dude, my wife and her mom doesnt have a close relationship, we don't call her that often that she would know her # out of her head and besides who remembers #'s, we store #'s in our phones we don't remember #'s out of our head. I went onto explain that my wife grew up with her grandmother and she is closer with her grandmother, we even offered to give him her grandmother # which we knew out of our head.

So after this episode he goes, "Very good, very good". Everything looks good but I will need 2 affidavit from your mom and grandmother. I will approve your I-485 now and approve your I-130 when you send the affidavit in. He gave us a letter that state that we have 30 days to send in the material and when every we send it in that I can come back and have my passport stamped.

So my questions are:

Can we be denied if my in-laws decide they dont want to get invole? Im sure we wadnt have a problem gettin these but like I said my wife and her mom relationship is up & down so what if she doesnt want to do it? Can we get other family members or friends to make an affidavit? To me this is crazy because we had tons of other documents (lease, insurance, bills etc) that he even tried to hand us back and I had to tell him no you keep those for your files. How in the world can he tell us what type of documents to bring in, moreso how can he choose who must write a affidavit for us?

Congratulations! Very interesting! Thank you for sharing!!

You can write an explanation letter to him in which honestly explain why. And attach some other proof.

That is very strange. I had affidavits that i sent in with my petition but my IO didn't even really say anything about it. It sounds like the only choice you have is to get the letters. If not then i don't know what i would do. It seems kind of silly some people just are not close with there parents and for him to base approval on her writing an affidavit seems stupid. Did you have affidavits from your parents? If not then that was just unfair. What exactly does the letter say? Like what exactly is he asking her mother/grandmother to write.

Congrats!!I am so happy for you!!!Looks like you had an easy interview!!!
