I had a lease, joint bank account, gas bill, car insurance, health insurance, dental insurance, my daughter's report card, an invitation to a wedding addressed to both of us, a thank you letter addressed to both of us for judging speeches at our county's academic pentathlon, wedding cards, cell phone records, chat/email records, flight stubs from visits and photos.

The interview didn't turn out exactly the way that I hoped, though I'm optimistic. I posted the review on the Canada forum AOS thread and on the January 2010 filers thread, if you want to take a look.

In a bit of a situation here - I've accepted a part-time job which is to begin in May. I have an interview date for May 13th. I've seen from a lot of other people's timelines that they received their EAD approval notice shortly after the interview letter, often the day after even! I received my interview letter last week but no EAD letters.

I've remained in student status all this time, so I plan to apply for CPT to bridge the gap while waiting for the EAD (in case it hasn't arrived by the beginning of May). Has anybody had experience (or seen a previous post) about this? I've searched the forums with no luck.

08/08 - Arrived on F-1 visa

12/09 - Married

02/04/10 - AOS package sent to Chicago Lockbox by USPS Certified Mail

02/07/10 - Package received

02/12/10 - NOA Notice Date

02/22/10 - Biometrics letter received, appointment date 03/09/10 (Notice date 02/17/10)

02/23/10 - Biometrics done

03/08/10 - Second biometric letter received (retaking fingerprints), appointment date 03/22/10 (Notice date 03/03/10)

03/22/10 - Fingerprints retaken

04/12/10 - Interview letter received, appointment date 05/13/10 (Notice date 04/08/10)

04/23/10 - EAD card production ordered #1 (notified by text)

04/28/10 - EAD card production ordered #2 (notified by text)

04/30/10 - EAD approval notice (notified by text)

05/01/10 - EAD and AP received

05/13/10 - Interview appointment (approved)

05/14/10 - Approval (notified by text)

05/something/10 - "Welcome to the US" letter and I-130 petition approval letter received in the mail

I don't think any of us have received EAD yet in the Feb Filers group. I guess we're all getting the interview date so fast that USCIS aren't bothered sending out EAD. Bit of a pain, but there you go. Maybe you could let the new job know the situation, that your interview is coming up but you wouldn't want to work without some kind of approval, so could they wait until after the interview to take you on... It might work!

Did you see my timeline? I've been approved for my greencard, and I'm STILL waiting for EAD in the mail...

Yes, I've been keeping track of your timeline, and because I knew of your situation, that I have been worried. I fear that my EAD may indeed have been put off because they saw that the interview was coming up. That's actually why I am considering applying for CPT, because it will help bridge the gap of 1+ month before my interview and approval.

The company knows of my situation, and has asked if I wanted to wait until after the immigration interview and the GC, but I myself want to start as soon as possible. It is a part-time job that I am hoping to turn into a full-time job. It is my ideal job, and the sooner I can get started on it, the sooner I can work with them towards getting me a full-time position. Time is of the essence because this is prime recruiting season and if I don't get the full-time job from them, I might have to find opportunities elsewhere (while this is my target company).

My interview was different from any interview I had read about. Clearly, the immigration officer had already made up his mind that there was no fraud here. So much that he didn't want to speak to, or even see my husband and daughter! He took their IDs and told them to wait in the waiting room... and never asked for them to come in. He pretty much asked me to confirm some information that was on our application, and that's it!

I brought copies of everything I had submitted with my application (because my interview notice said to). He didn't ask to see any of it.

I also brought copies (and the originals) of:

lease

joint bank account

gas bill

car insurance

health insurance

dental insurance

my daughter's report card (addressed to both of us)

an invitation to a wedding (addressed to both of us)

a thank you letter addressed to both of us for judging speeches at our county's academic pentathlon

wedding cards

cell phone records

chat/email records

flight stubs from visits

photos

He wanted to keep a copy of these (I had actually made a little package of copies for him and he inspected the originals).
