People should stop to be so negative, all the person is asking is for some info, if you can't help out best to keep it to yourself.

Your husband immigration status won't have much bearing on you getting help with your pregnancy, Since your are in California there's Medical, and several other benefits for pregnant women. You also have WIC, so make sure you take the proper care of yourself and the baby.

The rest of the concern is your private business, as to how you want to handle it, suggestions are always welcome it's just how some people put it out that can be blunly offensive.

Since you won't be working and your hubby will be new here, you have to look at the pros and the cons of having the baby here. Do you have enough finance here to hold on until your hubby get settle, do you have a strong family here to help you out, those are all personal matters and the decision is yours only.

It's funny, we can spend BILLION to go to war, to help corrupt govt, all of that i should say with our TAX money, and the poster was working before so her taxes went for all kinda crazy stuff, and now she needs help and people complaining about fleecing the govt. I would rather see my Tax $$ go to help a fellow american than being used to fight some ideological, financial war, defending some oil or whatever corporation with the most $$$$$ lobbyist the gvt to fight their cause.

People should start to take a good look at themselves, whoever has no sin should cast the 1st stone.

I do not know what the healthcare is like in Pakistan. Seems like a lot of Doctors in the UK are from the sub continent and a lot of people choose to go to India for elective treatment due to the cost/quality.

The US last time I looked USA was 72 in the World so there are at least 71 better options.

Of course if you have the Money/Insurance, a different situation. Sounds like neither applies here.

Any way you could have the baby in India? Great private hospitals and relatively cheap.

Giving birth in Pakistan is one of the option, but you have to consider that time limit to enter US with the VISA your husband got. It is valid only for 6 months, so add 6 month to however many months you are pregnant.

Just wanted to point out that both you and your husband will have to enter US within 6 months time frame.

Seriously, having a baby in the US without insurance is freakin' expensive. There was just a thread here this weekend on the costs and it is astronomical. Search for it and read it if you don't believe me. Find a good private hospital in Pakistan--I'm sure they exist and I'm sure you're not living in a friggin' village--and have your baby there. Far, far cheaper. And your husband will be there with you as well. Good luck. :)

My husband isn't in a village but considering the rate of "mistakes" doctors make here- I would not risk it. I have gotten sick here but refused to go to a doctor (even in the most expensive hospitals) after seeing the conditions here. Its not about whats cheaper when you have a kid- its whats safer.

That is one of my major concerns- my husbands visa is valid until August and I should probably be having my kid in the end of October because I am only 5 weeks pregnant.

Thanks for your response- I am in NJ so now I am looking into some of the suggestions that people stated here. I have work for my husband lined up for when he comes- I had my own job ready for me also but that will be on hold now. I have a strong family system to support me- its just the financial aspect in the first couple of months that will make it tough. As far as all the comments about tax money and issues some individuals stated regarding their "tax money being sponged on by people like me" I have been paying my taxes for years- even when I was a student- whats the point of being an American if you can't have your government give you a little support when you need it?

Wow, that was quite possibly one of the rudest, most unnecessary posts I have ever read on here. If you didn't notice - the OP is a USC and has every right to be here as does her unborn child. Medicare is for elderly people and Disabled - many people are eligible for medicaid including PREGNANT Citizens of the United States (which the OP is in case you already forgot) Obviously it would be best if everyone could afford the ridiculous premiums charged for a health care plan that include maternity coverage. Even if someone gets a plan before getting pregnant the premiums and deductibles are ridiculous.

Don't pretend to understand everyone's situation - because you don't. Nobody needs to read your rude comments.

Good people sometimes need help even if they are working hard. It's not your place to judge anyone.

To the OP. I hope you do find some good advice - I am going through a similar situation, except its my wife - a non USC who is pregnant - she couldn't be put on my plan because she wasn't in the country when she got pregnant - but I have been able to find some low cost clinics and am working on a payment plan with the hospital. It will be expensive but bringing our little baby to the world is WELL worth it.

Hang in there and try to find some of these low cost options. If medicaid is the only option for this pregnancy then definitely look into it .. if not, talk with your local hospital as most will have financial aid and payment plans available. Good luck! and congrats on the visa!

Thanks for your kind words. It stinks that I had great healthcare through my job before I left it for this whole visa process with my husband- and now I am having to look into different options. But its okay, I guess its a part of life. Congrats to you on your little baby- good luck!

You'll be fine...maybe you can take the job and keep working up until the second or even latter part of your pregnancy...MEDICAID will pay for all of your pregnancy related expenses 100% percent if you meet the income requirements while employed, and if not employed, they will cover you...someone else also suggested WIC, which will help you while you are pregnant with nutrition, and also help by providing formula (if you so choose) after the baby is born.

If you want more info send me a message...I became pregnant shortly after my fiance arrived in the US, and he was not employed, and I had to stop working temporarily due to complications...it was tough for a while but the programs for USC's are there to help us and do not affect the status of non USC's going through the immigration process!

Good luck...
