How do you feel about the Panama Canal ?

Or - should skiving be encouraged in the Phillipines forum?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

NO! In your future wife's place. Embassy is the place where you need to go to to obtain your legal capacity to marry.

And, you MUST have the last one first before you can apply for the first one.

Again, as what other have suggested a bunch of time :guides:

We didnt get Legal Capacity to Marry first. I had limited time, so she got the marriage application first, and filled out her part. Then sent it to me, and I filled out my part. Then had it notarized. Then took it to the county clerk who signed off on it, then sent it to the state department of state. then sent it to the Philippines counselate. then sent it back to her. She took it back to City Hall where they displayed it the required 10 days. When I arrived, all we had to do was get the legal Capacity.... at embassy, and within 3 days of my arriving there we were married. Had 7 day honeymoon then, hehe...

We almost had the same procedure. It's just that I didn't send the form to my husband (then fiance), he just downloaded it, filled out and went to Philippine Consulate in L.A. to have it notarized and then he sent it to me. We didn't go through county clerk and DOS. :P

Yes..and if is future wife is really close with someone they wont have to do the seminar at municiple hall like some have to do. We could have had ours a lot quicker, but we werent that pressed for time. they didnt have us do the seminar at municiple hall, but we did have to do the one for the church (for the wedding..wasnt civil)

I know the links have been given many times to the US Embassy Manila..read the whole deal on the marriage. It explains it very well there. that is what I did and had no problems! talk to you fiancee...have her talk to municiple hall too!

well, i know about the "friend inside" but i dont think it's a good idea to teach/encourage others how to cut corners. the embassy does have a fraud unit and we've all seen many posters crying about it.

to each his own, but why wake up in the morning worrying about it?

hehehehe... no... they will not do any fraud.. its just that the friend inside will do it easy for them to have all the reqs. its ok.. all ur docs. will be legal, its just that some instance, some couple or the USC cant stay here for so long, if they have a friend who can help them not to wait for 10 days then it will be good on part of them right...? and beside it is only marriage licence po.... we did it also on my 1st marriage we got our marriage license i think for only less than a wk. then even in the church bcoz the priest who solemnized our marriage is very close to us... and i remember that we just followed the legal capacity to marry on my civil local registrar here in my place.... :star:

YEah, my wife tried to see if they would start it before I got there..they said I had to be present to apply for the marriage license....no problem though. Everything worked out. I had the time to wait though, so we had no issues. They just helped us get the marriage certificate quicker since they had someone that goes to manila at least once a week. They got our marriage certificate in a month vs 2-3 months.

oh yeah! i know exactly what you're saying...been there done that. even faster than you can think of...lol! but why encourage others specially newbie to cut the corners...? and also, you can not say that "it's only a marriage license....lol...you cant get married without it can you? lol. just remember, if you are aware of, that 1 pinay vj member was denied bcoz of what you called "just a marriage license"...lol. bcoz they've tried to cheat the system and thought that the embassy wouldn't find out about it...lol. guess what? the embassy did! they even called the LCR where the couple got their ML. cheated the system + fraud = visa denied.

The freedom from war that gives wings to his heart,
