Hi, ok, we are waiting on the CR-1 visa to be approved. We are very happy, but, after she comes here, i understand that we have 2 years to remove conditions on her visa. What, God forbid would happen if she we were to get into a really bad argument and she decides to skip town :crying: . I would be devistated. But what ifs are things I need to think about. So what if she were to do this and remarry someone or return back to her country or just 'hang out' here with another guy? Would I be liable for anything? I am assuming that within the 90 days before the second anniversary we both will need to petition? Not clear on how this process works. I am a realist at heart, and yes I have to think about worst-case scenarios...I was born with this gene/or God built it in

Whether you stay together or not, or whether she "shacks up" with someone else or not, you are liable for 40 quarters of work (usually around 10 years) to support her at 125% of the poverty level.

Divorce does not end the obligation. Only if she were to return to her country (sans greencard is my understanding) or die, or become a USC herself, does the requirement end.

She does not need you to remove conditions if there is proof the relationship was bonafide. The US government is realistic in that regard, that relationships don't always work.

The reason for this is so the US government isn't paying for someone that YOU wanted to bring to the US.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for the two of you to live together in Armenia ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
