President Obama this week called for a televised bipartisan summit to get his health care reform plan back on track, but 61% of U.S. voters say Congress should scrap that plan and start all over again.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds just 28% who think it is better to build on the health care plan that has been working its way through the House and Senate.

Only 35% of voters believe Congress should pass health care reform before the upcoming midterm elections anyway. Fifty-four percent (54%) say Congress should wait until voters select new congressional representatives in November.

It’s interesting to note that in a separate survey earlier this week 63% of voters said, generally speaking, it would be better for the country if most incumbents in Congress were defeated this November. Just 27% now believe their current congressman is the best person for the job.

At week’s end, top Democrats were talking about ramming through their highly controversial national health care plan that seemingly was derailed in late January. Most voters still oppose that plan, and 61% say Congress should scrap it and start all over again. Only 24% of voters, however, think President Obama is likely to achieve health care reform this year, a low finding in a year of surveying.

Unhappiness with the health care plan proposed by the president and congressional Democrats is one reason why 59% of voters now think states should have the right to opt out of federal government programs they don’t agree with.

My employer already notified us that our premiums will be rising by 10% this May. So while inflation is down, the economy is in a recession, premiums are still rising. Yeah way to go private system.

During boom times the cost rises due to 'increased costs'. During a recession costs continue to rise again due to some other BS excuse, which I am keen to hear.

Well I guess you are just gonna haf-to decide if you want the Laws which force companies to cover risky folks for free or not?

You can't pretend you love the socialist swing...and then cry because you have a to give up a few extra bucks to pay for it.

Don't be so stingy.

How true! No matter what, the price always seems to go up.

Nice try Danno but why is it my rates in Aus never increased year after year? And yes we covered every Australian. You know, the folks residing in the country we so dearly love.

This increase is not going towards covering other sick Americans, it's going towards purchasing a new Range Rover for the kids of executives and account manager for our insurance company.

I am sure one of the many proposals out there from the alternative party will fix this.
