I am filing for my step daughter and I was sent a NOE. I was asked to my marriage certificate does anyone know why i would need to do that considering I am filing for my stepchild and not my husband.

To prove the relationship basically. You can easily petition a step-daughter, but if you haven't proved she IS your step-daughter.. then how do they know?

**Edit - can you please update your profile so we know what you're applying for as your profile currently says K1... and please also update your timeline as it says you're still doing the CR1. Thanks :D

** moving from "K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures" to "Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America" as it is a more appropriate location **

ditto,

you should have sent that with the i130, how would they know that you are married to her father? the birth certificate proves that your husband is the parent, but he isn't filing for her, you are, so the marriage license o certificate ties you in the relationship.

Yeah, that's my thought too. I would hope they would ask you to prove you were actually the step-mother.

His name is on the child's birth papers, right? If not, better get that fixed immediately.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
