Hi,

I just had my PH passport renewed, and the PH consul told me that they will move my old surname as my new middle name since it's the law in the Philippines. Problem is, when I got married, I just replaced my surname with my new surname and kept the old middle name.

I wanted to keep everything consistent but I wasn't aware that it was a law to move surname to middle name when you get married.

Is this going to be a problem as identification (esp in the US) in the future? Anyone who experienced the same thing?

Thanks.

You can request the Philippine Consulate to issue you a "Certificate of One and the Same Person"

Should I get this from PH or US? Will they be any different? It's sort of confusing figuring out which affidavit I should get. Plus, I am in the process of applying for AOS, and plan to stay here in the US.

Darn - I just came from Philippine Consulate to submit all requirements for passport renewal and they did not help me on this - sigh... Anyhow - do I have to appear personally to file affidavit/certificate of one and the same person for this?
