162 days? Is this really how long it takes from NOA2 to Interview?

Hi All,

Reading up on the IR-1/CR-1 October filers--CONGRATS TO ALL who received their NOA2s! And to those who are still waiting...you won't be waiting for much longer!

I was so excited to received NOA2...

I then started reading the processing times.

Does it really take 162 days from the NOA2 to the Interview? REALLY? :( Waiting a bit longer--doable. It's just so very frustrating and I feel like I am losing hope.

I do NOT want to be a cry baby (I totally am), just need to hear if this is how long it really takes and maybe some support! ERGH!

gracias..

it all depends how fast you get through the NVC and your consulate...if it is backed up like canada's is...then that is why it takes so long. I would look to see where the filers are from before getting too sad yet...but i think about 5 months from NOA1 and interview isnt too bad. It was a lot worse about 8-10 years ago.

A lot of it depends on :

1. how fast the USC can handle the NVC processing and

2. how yer embassy 'cycles' the interview date setting with NVC.

I recommend you Study Ling Che's Shortcuts at

and get an understanding of how the online payment portal works at

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

ya - rejection occurs (IMO) for one of two reasons:

1. aba/routing#/account # digits were transposed, (usually by the person attempting the payment) somehow , making a 'fail' when the ACH transaction went through or

2. you didn't have enough funds in the account when the ACH transaction tried to complete.

OTOH - this is coming up more and more, without reasons 1 or 2 being 'applicable' - so I tend to THINK that there's a glitch in the online payment portal thingie. It had started off as 'beta' , and usually if any problem when trying to pay it - had to resort to 'clearing the web browser cache' then restarting the computer, and then trying again. Back then, it was a PITA.

Step forward to 'current' time - and with these indicators (as you've mentioned) I think something else is wrong.

The online web payment portal has the most 'current' info of all of the data systems (AVR, NVC Tele-Operator data system, payment portal)

Now - what to do ?

1. check the bank account online - did the ACH payment actually POST?

2. USUALLY the online payment portal has the 'correct updated info' two to three days AFTER the payment is initially made. ACH clearances USUALLY occur overnight, but USUALLY by the 3rd day (day 1, pay, day 2, wait, day 3, check) - the payment will have successfully cleared. SO. if it's DAY 3 - and it shows as rejected, then check items 1 and 2 on my rejection list, see if that applies to you.

I smell the need for a new wiki topic about the online payment portal thingie..

anyway - GOOD LUCK !!

*-----

acronym list

PITA - Pain in the @ss.

ACH - automated clearing house. The payment you are making is via 'electronic check' and the payment portal utilizes ACH to 'suck in ' your funds from your bank account, usually tied to a checking account.

OTOH - on the other hand.
