Back to topic. I'm glad that Australia has taken this stance on whaling.

Whaling is just plain wrong. :angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

Captain Ahab is going to strike you off his Christmas card list.

However, Moby ####### will give you a group hug

We're both about the same size. :crying:

OMT,

To the last, I grapple with thee;

From Hell's heart, I stab at thee;

For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee

Hell, yes. One nasty virus or fungus in a fish farm can easily destroy the wild stock of whatever, even shrimp. The strongest shall survive but not if they are all the same, then we have extinction.

Farm raised seafood in the US and Canada is usually high priced items like Atlantic Salmon. The rest of the seafood is imported shrimp and whatnot. People in Thailand, for example, aren't consuming much of the farm raised product. So we are talking about slightly different interpretation of which growing mass we are discussing.

Different cultures and so forth, I agree. But you are mistaken my friend, as Thai's do eat farm raised product quite regularly. I have been there so many times, I have lost count. During my three year tour in Japan with the US Government (civilian), I visited Thailand almost weekly. I can assure you that this is a fact. The primary difference is live shrimp, head-on; versus frozen shrimp, pre-split.

You are quite correct. I realized after I posted that the wild shrimp industry in Thailand is almost non-existant. This is what you were suggesting in your earlier post. In your defence, shrimp inbreeding isn't as much of an issue there, at least at this point in time.

We all make mistakes in our posts, versus IRL conversation where corrections are immediate.

At the end of the day, I agree with getting food from all sources, wild or farm raised. There are serious and unregulated issues related to farm raised product. However, and given the starvation issues that still plague "planet earth", I would eat just about anything considered "food" for sustenance, given the abject starvation and poverty I have witnessed in my life. Those of us in the "have" margin, have nothing to b1tch about.
