Hello! It's been more than a month since I got married, and I still haven't changed my name at the SSA office. Is there a deadline to file a change of name from maiden to married one?

Thanks in advance!

None. After all, some states won't change your card unless you have your EAD.

Oh. Do you know which states require an EAD before the name change?

This is a Federal Government agency (Social Security) so why would a State have any say in what is required to change a name? The offices are manned by federal employees right?

Well, talking about the same question, I called today to the SS Office, and the lady told me until I have the green card I can change the name in my social security card, I have it already since i came before in a J-1. So I have to wait for my GC!
