Hi Everyone,

I saw this story on tv (lol..it made the top 5 news-worthy stories list) and read it on the internet the other day....

Thought I would share it with you all you Canadians...

Lol..I miss Swiss Chalet chicken and Sauce... :crying:

No surprise really, as Swiss Chalet is a Canadian restaurant chain ...Wouldn't do well in a US area with Canada being so close by.....

(Oh well..I'll just have to go north of the border for such....though oddly enough..I've never been to a Swiss Chalet here in the USA....)

Swiss Chalet Closing Restaurants in Amherst & Depew

Swiss Chalet, known for decades here for its chicken, ribs and dipping sauce, is closing its two remaining restaurants in Western New York.

Plans call for the restaurants, located at 1551 Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst and 4757 Transit Road in Depew, to shut down by the end of the month.

Local attorney Pamela Heilman, who is representing Swiss Chalet's owner, Cara Operations Limited of Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, says this was a difficult decision, especially because the restaurant has built up a loyal customer base and following here for years.

However, Heilman says the company simply can not afford to keep its Western New York restaurants open given the current economic climate. Heilman adds Swiss Chalet is working with the union that represents its restaurant workers, to try to find ways to provide them with some sort of severance package.

After the restaurants here are closed, the closest Swiss Chalets will be located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada at 3770 Montrose Road and 6666 Lundy's Lane.

I didn't even know Swiss Chalet was in the US. :unsure:

My husband loves Swiss Chalet; it's always a must for him when we travel back to Canada. I love the sauce!

OBX-Lol..I never knew Swiss Chalet existed in the USA either..

Until I drove by one in Buffalo, NY...And then had to wonder, "Am I on the right side of the border?" :lol:

Unfortunately, I realized it too late..As now the US Swiss Chalets are closing....

Oh yeah...Swiss Chalet is now a "must" when visiting Canada! Since there aren't any here in the USA.......

I love the Christmas/Thanksgiving chicken dinners that they used to have there....(free tolberone (sp) chocolate bar too...yum!)

I love the Sauce too (can't find anything equivalent to that here in the USA either...It's the best sauce ever!)...

P.S. Does anyone know if they sell Swiss Chalet sauce in any Canadian grocery stores? Wondering if I can stock up on such, the next time I'm over the border...Hmm...I wonder how Swiss Chalet sauce tastes with Buffalo Chicken Wings....Now that's what I call a Canadian/American treat!

I think I have eaten at the Swiss Chalet in Depew :lol:

Yup, love the sauce too...My dad hates it, so when we would eat it in the restaurant, I'd get his sauce too :P

John likes it, but he calls it 'spicy ketchup' :lol:

Always stock up whenever I go home, and use it when we get a Costco chicken and Five Guys fries :D

Darnell-Oh yeah, it is cold up here! Nevertheless, I love it up here! Winter without cold weather and snow...wouldn't be winter at all...lol...

Not much different weather-wise than Canada (in fact, it can be colder here because of lake effect)...Feels like home to me...:)

I agree, it would be fun to eat there before it closes....hmmmm....

I couldn't agree more! My hubby loves it, me not so much!

And for those of you looking for the dipping sauce, my hubby bought cans of it at Zellers in Montreal. I'll have to ask him if he saw it anywhere else and will post it on here. I have 2 cans in my cabinets right now.... any bidders?? :whistle:

wow last time I ate swiss chalet was years ago , loved it didnt even knew they had one in the states ,

I guess its a little to late to say i want to take a trip to NY and eat canadian grill chicken ,

05/06/17 biometric hard copy in mail 

05/19/17 Biometric appointment in Hartford CT 

07/17/17 Inline for Interview 

07/24/17 Interview letter in mail 

08/24/17 Interview in Springfield MA ... Yes Aproved

09/14/17 Oath Ceremony .... done I am a US citizen

09/22/17 Applied for Passport ( per reg mail ) 

10/04/17 got passport in mail  

10/13/17 got certificate in mail  , updated status with social security office 

AM DONE YEAHHHHHHHHHHH
