Hi All,

Thanks for all the assistance you hav given me so far. It was really helpful. I was approved on monday but it was not possible for me to post my experience then.

See how it went, I left from Ottawa that same morning at 6;00am, gor to montral at 8;30 immidiately took a taxi to the consulate. passed through the clearace and went upstairs to 19th floor,Went to the cahier got a number and sat down. The wait was quite long, I waited for close to 25 mins before I was called, all the documents which were listed were taken, a small slip was then given to me and I went and paid the money for the visa.(100USD). I waited again for another 15 mins, then I was called and the reciept taken from me. The longest wait was for about an hour after then I was calledto window11 and then finger printed, and the asked to swear. The questions which followed were

- How did you know your husband,

-where did you meet him first

-how long have you been married

I was then told my visa will be with me in 2 to 3 days. It was not even up to 5 mins and all was over.

Infact I cannot tell you my joy. It was so smooth.

Thanks, honestly I was so nervous the night of the interview that I hardly slept. Canuker18, I am so happy we are over and done witn this part now we are making moving arrangements. Hopefully we will be moving by the 25/26th it will take us 2 days since we are travelling by rand with a baby. I am extremely happy. I will now be close to the one I love. Thank you Mary

Congrats and safe travels

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I'm the shoulder length blonde/brown hair, glasses, black down jacket, black cords, lavender turtleneck with the big white binder female that was leaving around 10:20am.

Done for 10 years!! Have not decided if i will become a citizen lots of time to think about that...

Canuck carrie, I guess I noticed you with the description you have just given, I wore a black jacket,and grey pants, carred a walmart paperbag and a larger bag too. . I came in around 9;15am.

I wish we had his discussion before the intrviw so that we could meet. Would have been much fun. I sat all alone with noone to talk to. Congratulations to you too. Have you got your visa yet? I am still waiting for mine hopefully it comes in today I could not wait till the next day cause I had my baby in Ottawa with my sister.

Anyways I am travelling on the 25/26th of this month. Just celebrating now.

I would really like to know what is required of me at the boader since I will taking along all my stuff.
