Never mind that government commissions are dull by definition and their reports are commonly called dust collectors. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says the Republican co-chairman of the president's new commission on the deficit is going to make it fun.

"You all should be thankful," Gibbs told reporters when asked if the White House hopes the appointment tomorrow of former GOP senator Alan Simpson will help get congressional Republicans behind the commission. "He is a guy with a sense of humor in a town that often lacks one. ... I think that will be fun for you all."
