Hello everyone

Well in my wife's process we are to the part of sending the Affidavit information & personal documents / Visa process.

I will mail all the required info, I have a joint sponsor, I triple checked every form and they should receive this Monday the 22nd.

I have read that the next step is to wait for a correspondence that will arrive ONE month BEFORE the interview.....

Which leaves me in space wondering how long is the gap to reach the "month before"...

Simple question, but I know not every case is the same, a simple estimate or advice please, thank you very much!

PS Center to receive will be in PORTSMOUTH, NH. Also the goal is to bring my wife from the Dominican Republic to the U.S. (NY)

I'm a bit confused about where you are currently in the process. You mentioned that you are currently sending the Affidavit and personal documents which makes me believe you're filing for a CR1/IR1 visa, but your Timeline shows you filed for a K3 visa.

If you filed for a CR1/IR1 visa, then after your case is complete at the NVC, they will make an appointment with the US embassy. Now, as of a couple of years ago I had seen people going through the Dominican Republic wait months, if not years, to get an appointment due to the amount of interviews the embassy has to schedule. That may have changed, so check with other members here on VJ to find out if that is still the case.

If you filed for a K3 visa, then you should be gathering all documentation for her interview. The NVC receives the approved petition from the USCIS, assigns it a case number and forwards it to the embassy. It can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks before the embassy gives you an interview date.

In most cases, a CR1/IR1 visa is processed just as fast as a K3. But like I said, the Dominican Republic has been known for taking a lot longer and again, it may not be the case anymore, so double check this information.
