Hello everyone..i have two friends who are willing to be my "co-sponsor".....both of them have an annual income of 29,000. They're willing to sponsor me and my son (K1 & K2)...I dont know how to work this out with regards as 'co-sponsor" but they're willing to help me, but i am not sure if they are capable though.

1st friend - she is working and earning 29,000 annually, she works as a CNA. No kids, and got divorced in 07'.....she start filing taxes in 08' (becoz in 07' she is not working, and process of divorce),and now in 09'. She is carrying a 10-yr greencard now.

2nd friend - She is married, one child and husband is bed-ridden and depend on aid from government. But i think she is working 2-jobs...she is updated in filing taxes....she got her citizenship recently.

Are they both capable to be my "co-sponsor"?????..pls help me to clarify this....i wanted them to be my co-sponsor for me and my son becoz my husband is unemployed and below poverty guidline.....

Hope anyone can help me to explain in clear manner and not harrasing my thread..thnx u and God bless...

Either one could I suppose - $29k/year falls technically in the minimum for a household size of 4. Husband's family not willing/able?

You can't really use both at the same time (it doesn't really work that way) - your husband would be your sponsor (regardless of income) and you could have a co-sponsor (1). I can't say which of the two would be best.

This is in reply to your inquiry of April 24, 2009, regarding your visa concerns.

Petitioners in fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa cases are generally expected to provide

the adequacy of their own financial resources to ensure that an alien, after admission into

the United States, will not become primarily dependent on the US Government for

subsistence. While our immigration law does not disallow joint sponsorships for K

nonimmigrant visa applicants, the mere submission of an I-134 Affidavit of Support from

joint sponsors is not sufficient to establish that the alien is not likely to become a public

charge. Accordingly, we make a thorough evaluation of other factors, such as the

sponsor's motives in submitting the Form I-134, the sponsor's relationship to the

applicant or petitioner, the length of time the sponsor and applicant have known each

other, etc. An I-134 Affidavit of Support submitted by a casual friend or distant relative

who has little or no personal knowledge of the applicant has limited value. Unlike the I-

864 filed by joint sponsors in immigrant visa cases, the I-134 is not legally binding and

imposes no legal obligation on the joint sponsor to make good on his or her promises.

Please be assured that we look at the totality of circumstances in assessing the credibility

of joint sponsorships.

For information about financial sponsorship guidelines, you may visit the U.S.

Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website at

http://www.uscis.gov.

One of those friends can be a co-sponsor.

The person with no dependents would need qualify to sponsor a household of 3 (friend, you, and your child).

Other person would need to qualify for household of 4 (friend, their spouse, you, your child).
