Hi to all;

My fiance is with me up to next week and we meet one agent here in Manila who will assist me during the preparation for my VISA application. I am not convinced by her, she told us alot of payment to be made to the USEM. Here are the details:

VISA Fee - Php 7,200

VISA Insurance - Php 6,900 - not sure about this

Doc. Verification - Php 2,620 - not sure about this

VISA Delivery - Php 2,400 - I know its around Php 200 only

Travel Tax - Php 1,620

PDOS(Seminar) - Php 1,500

To all those who recently finished their K1 VISA process as of Feb 18, 2010, could you suggest and advise me on this. I dont really want to take an agent here. Are all these fees really necessary. Medical is not yet included here.

Don't talk to any agent they will do nothing but take your money. Looks like you are the benificiary why do you need an agent for? Your petitioner (fiance) will file it in a service center in the US, he can file it by himself. Just read through the guidelines here and ask questions if there's something unclear to you. You don't need a lawyer in filing a K1 visa much more an agent from the Philippines. And those itemized fees wow, this agent will only suck your money.

We finished in July 09. Here is what we paid as a K1 visa applicant. Some are in dollars, others in Peso so the rates vary a little.........

Visa App. Fee- 131 USD

Medical Exam (St Lukes) - about 230 USD

Visa Delivery - 250-300 peso delivered to Mindanao

Travel Tax - 1,500 Peso each person to depart Manila Airport

PDOS Seminar - 400 Peso for the CFO Sticker

Seminar- 200 peso

NBI Clearance fee - 250-300 peso

Sorry, I do not remember or have seen anyone mention Visa Insurance or document verification fees unless these are new fees for 2010.

All I remember on the fees............

Thank you very much to all those who reply to my query. My fiance went back to USA again just today and I told him that I dont want any agent. We will just do it by ourselves.

Once he arrive in HI he will file the I-134 form. By the way, how long to process I-134 and Form 1040?

Thanks again for guiding me, I appreciate your help. :)(L)(F)

The I-134 is the affidavit of support. Your Fiance has to file that with is 1040 or his tax return to prove to the USEM, that he can support you and himself. He sends it to you, then you bring it with you to your interview. Good luck, and I think you will like Hawaii, it is just like PI. Well now worries about finding Filipino food or people.

Here is how the I-134 works: your fiancé must fill out the I-134 and send it to you. Then, you will take the I-134 with you to your interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila (USEM). You will submit the I-134 to the Filipino pre-screener at the USEM just before your final interview with the American Consul Officer.

Along with the I-134, your fiancé needs to send you a copy of his latest income tax return (1040). It might be better if he sends you copies of his income tax returns for the past three years. He should also send you copies of his W-2's for the past three years.

Instead of sending you copies of his three most recent income tax returns, he can send you copies of his past three tax transcripts. He can get copies of his tax transcripts free from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

He must also send you copies of his recent paycheck stubs. Three months of paycheck stubs should be plenty.

Also, he must send you a letter from his employer. The letter should state how long he has been employed with the company, how much he makes, what job he does for the company, etc.

You will be asked to submit all of these documents to the pre-screener at the USEM on your interview day.

I hope I didn't forget anything. Good luck.

Tahoma thank you very much for that complete information.

About I-134, you mean to say that he can make several copies of this form. Like one will be filed in USCIS, one will be sent to me and one he can keep as extra?

I would suggest that your fiancé make three copies of his I-134. He should send you two of the copies. You will submit one copy to the Filipino pre-screener at the time of your interview. You will keep the other copy he sends you as a backup, just in case the USEM loses the copy you submitted during your interview. Your fiancé should keep the third copy himself, just in case everyone else loses their copy. USCIS does not want his I-134, so don't worry about them.

I would also suggest that your fiancé send you two copies of all of his financial documents. One copy for you to submit to the USEM and one copy for backup, just in case the USEM loses the financial documents that you submitted during your interview. They lost ours!

Thank you for that information, that really helps alot I will let my fiance know that. Actually, we are checking the initial affidavit of support he made and I found out that he only declare one of his kid as dependent, he gets 2 kids from his ex-gf. He said he did so because from his Form 1040 only one kid is declared because the ex-gf declared the other on her 1040. Do you know something about this? He should declare 1 or 2 kid on the I-134?

I don't know anything about the issue, but it is worth checking into. You don't want to go to your interview only to discover that he should have claimed both children.

However, if he earns a high enough income, he should claim both children so you don't have to worry about whether it will become an issue at your interview.
