after all was said and done, we paid 5000 WITH insurance for our csection birth. And don't think a csection can't happen to you: the csection rate in the US is about 50%

No insurance coverage; due to previous infertility, no private health insurance will cover us for maternity care. We knew that ahead of time, and had money saved in case we got blessed with a natural surprise.

Congratulations Penguin_ie on the new baby!

I have to say I admire you for doing the VBAC as the women here are so used to having c-section after c-section (most of them do not even inquire if they can do vaginal birth, all they want is drugs and a scheduled c-section).

Don't even want to think how my doctor would respond when I say I want a natural birth (no drugs, no induction, no unnecessary medical procedures) - we're a long way from there though...

As one of 'the women' here (and a pregnant one to boot), I can say that I prefer a VBAC and plan to go that route. But if something were to happen that would precipitate the need for a c-section, obviously we will go that route.

I just think it's disingenuous to say all (or most) women want a c-section. Certainly isn't true from the women I know and have known that have had babies.

As far as the natural thing goes - well, you go girl! LOL No such bravery here - I want as many drugs as I can get as soon as I can get them.
