US citizen to marry Icelander, in Iceland

I have just begun my venture. I have done much research, but come up with unclear answers for my situation. Im a US citizen in GA, my fiance is an Icelander. We want to get married in Iceland. We will live there for one year, then return back to the US together permanently. Where do we begin? What forms do I need to submit, if any when I go to Iceland. I do know when I return to the US I will need many copies of my marriage license to be recognized as legal. Please help, Im so lost. I want to be sure we are doing everything legal for both countries. I dont have laywer money, so Im on my own.

If the US citizen spouse is a legal resident of the foreign country then you ought to be able to file directly with the US embassy (DCF - Direct Consular Filing) there for the spousal visa. Read the VJ guides as well as the DCF and CR1 forums.

You don't need to file any forms related to the future immigration of your spouse when you leave the US.

If you're going to marry and live in Iceland for a while - your best visa journey would be to check out the DCF (Direct Counselor Filing) path. You could do this a short time before you get ready to move back to the states.
