My father has offered to file the affidavit of support for my husband. I am more or less certain that he is eligible. I would like some reassurance that he is able to, that it is not necessary that I am the only one who may file this form.

The second part is that my dad owes on his taxes, and the question is if this has a large effect?

Recommendations and Advice Welcome!

Thanks

Nikki

Any US citizen or LPR can be your co/joint sponsor.

From what I've read here on VJ any outstanding tax debt would be deducted from his income number. Example: income of 100K - tax debt of 10K = 90K income to considered by adjudicating officer.

Awesome! Thanks for the response! That is great news! It has been depressing being alone and unsure if we would be able to meet requirements for everything. Found out I was pregnant with our first pregnancy after I returned to the states, then we just lost the baby and it is turning out to be incredibly difficult to handle while being seperated. It's just all SO much! Working full time, maintaing a home, supporting my pregnancy, filing immigration w/o a lawyer and doing it all on my own. Thanks for the encouraging news!
