Those are all government jobs saved or created. How many private sector permanent jobs were created?

The balance between those and the total. But again, that's not the point. The argument being made by the supposed opponents of the Recovery Act is that it hasn't saved or created a single job and has not had any stimulating effect on the economy. That claim is clearly false and not supported by the facts. And it's not supported by the very funding requests those supposed opponents made to save and create jobs and stimulate the economy in their districts and states.

That's not what they're saying. Obviously, if you throw trillions of dollars at a problem,

something's gotta stick.

The point they are making is that the *real cost* of the stimulus - inflation, higher taxes or

stunted economic growth down the road - far exceeds the benefits of the temporary GDP

boost we got as a result of the stimulus.

No? Reality check needed?

Convening his first news conference, Brown (R, MA) said the last economic stimulus bill didn't create a single new job.
"There’s a reason why the CBS/New York Times poll said that six percent of Americans said the stimulus bill didn’t create any jobs. It’s because it hasn’t," said Rove.
"This is spending, not stimulus," Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said about it. "Rather than create jobs or stimulate the economy, this massive spending bill was a laundry list of programs that focused on states with big-city urban communities,"

On the other hand, the experts on the issue have come to different conclusions.

;) As noted earlier.

Certainly not the CBO, IHS Global Insight, Moody's Economy.com, or Macroeconomic Advisers...all part of the smoke and mirror scheme.
