Also, as others have pointed out, if you fill in your timeline (NOA1 receipt for now), you will have a better idea of when your petition might get approved.

Good luck! I dont know if you are the petitioner or the benificiary, but if you are the benificiary, I would suggest taking advantage of things you will miss after your move. Spend time with friends and family, do things you wont be able to once you are in the States.

Time seems to stand still right now but it will go fast in the end.

Big +1

You have no idea how true this is until you move.

As a sample, here was our timing:

Mailed I129F on 6/15/09

NOA1 dated 6/19/09

NOA2 dated 9/16/09

NVC sent to consulate 9/22/09

Fiancee received packet 3 on 10/19/09

Sent packet 3 info on 10/27/09

Reveived packet 4 with interview appt letter on 11/18/09

Interview 12/15/09

POE Detroit 1/16/2010

If you look at others who have filled in their timelines you can get a good idea of time frames.

With no rfe's I'd expect between 6-9 months from I129F to Interview. It's all available here - take some time and read, read, read.

Waiting is long and hard but love is endless and forever

6/15/2009 Filed I-129F

12/15/2009 Interview (HCMC, VN)

1/16/2010 POE Detroit

3/31/2010 MARRIED !!!

11/20/2010 Filed I-485

12/23/2010 Biometrics (Buffalo, NY)

12/31/2010 I-485 Transfered to CSC

2/4/2011 Green Card received

1/7/2013 Mailed I-751 package

1/14/2013 I-751 NOA (VSC)

2/07/2013 Biometrics (Buffalo, NY)

So basically I should be in the States by 5-6 months, counting down since Nov/09.

Took me over a year, with a lawyer, and 2 RFE's one with a NOID, and the backlog at my consulate didn't help either.

too many variables really to estimate exactly when you should get it. Technically you should have noa2 around march give or take on your sevice center..thats the max time frame. then you have the nvc stage and the consulate stage, and depening on the interview you could be stuck in AP like alot of ppl have. Best is to check other timlines like yours and consulates etc. to see the other ppl's timeframes.

Kimbear, if you had your time over, would you've still used a lawyer?

i never wanted him in the first place. i had all the paperwork done etc. you do not need a lawyer..even if we had no issues there was still a 2 month delay in sending back and forth papers and him getting letters from nvc uscis first.

waste of time money and everyting. this process may be daunting at first but its so easy if you read the guides follow examples and ask the vj community.

just a side note.. the rfes were from mistakes the lawyer made. which we pointed out in april a month after the petition was sent in. the lawyer told me " you dont need that and we've never had a visa fail", in otherwords shutup kim and let us do what we do.

well guess what..not answering question 18 and not including things like relation ship evidence of meeting, and constanly mispelling my name and address are marks of an idiot. not to mention i knew a week or more in advance of everyting every step of teh way..i would have to call them and tell them. then they wouldn't be live us, contact uscis and then go oh yes your are right..

imo never use a lawyer for this stuff..they dont care about you your relationship all they care about are $$$$.

I am so glad my fiance' and I decided not to use a lawyer. I mean the forms have to be filled out from information only we would know. I can type, I can photocopy, and I can put pictures/evidence together. We didn't get an Request For Evidence (RFE) at the first stage at the California Service Center. Once the paperwork got to the National Visa Center, it seemed to move quicker. But still working with Montreal is definitely going to try my patience, but I don't think the wait there for an interview date (at least knowing when the date is) will be longer than my wait for the NOA2. I wish they were faster, like the Manila consulate in the Phillipines, but i fell in love with a man from Canada and I am willing to wait! If I need to I will contact my senator but I don't think it is necessary since every thing seems to be going a little ahead of the "expected processing times".
