The HR department of the Qatar Staffing agency's office in Qatar can also get this Police Clearance Report initiated on HIS behalf IN Qatar. If he still has a contact within HR, he might want to contact them, get THEM to do it. Might cost a small handling charge - but you won't know, until HE asks them.

IMO, it smells like he got incompetent person at the Qatar Embassy. I suggest he call back, and ask to speak to someone else, even a supervisor.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I say call them anyway - smells like a multinational corp - they should be able to do something, ya?

If the answer is still no, at least the call was made.

Good Luck !

According to the Dept. of State's schedule of reciprocity - for Qatar police clearance"

Former residents should write to the Department of Public Security and General Administration, Ministry of Interior, P.O. Box 920, Doha, State of Qatar supported by the following documents:

  • A letter requesting the issuance of a Police Clearance Certificate from the State of Qatar. The letter should include the purpose in requesting the Police Clearance Certificate, the first date of arrival of the person in Qatar and the last date of departure.
  • A complete photocopy of all pages of the passport (include copies of all pages, regardless of entries).
  • A set of fingerprints taken by a competent government authority from the applicant's current place of residence.
  • 3 passport-size photographs.
  • A self-addressed return envelope large enough to hold an A4 size document.

The Police Clearance Certificate will be issued in about two weeks and will be mailed to the applicant.

My friend worked in saudi arabia for 3 years and had to also comply with the police clearance as part of the requirements for immigrant visa petition by her husband. But found out just lately that the clearance issued to her that was in Arabic has so many errors. So she decided not not to submit the police clearance from Saudi, but submitted only the NBI clearance from the Phils. and it went jusf fine.

Be patient and get all police clearances. Yes I know from my own wife that cousin so an so and so and so's friend filled their DS230 or I-130 without mentioning they worked abroad and by altering the timelines in the applications... Save yourself some heartache and fear later down he road... My wife and I waited for months to get her Taiwanese and Korean clearances (Turned out it was just a month wait but wife assumed it was going o be mailed back, not picked up at the embassy which it was.). I'm sure lots of people apply without being truthful and get away with it. There is always a visa interview where what comes out orally might not match documentation or the timeline given does not match visa stamps in his/her passport.

But remember that the DS230 states:

Warning: Any false statement or concealment of a material fact may result in your permanent exclusion from the United States. This form (DS-230 Part I) is the first of two parts. This part, together with Form DS-230 Part II, constitutes the complete Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration.

And

Warning: Any false statement or concealment of a material fact may result in your permanent exclusion from the United States. Even if you are issued an immigrant visa and are subsequently admitted to the United States, providing false information on this form could be grounds for your prosecution and/or deportation.

I just want to save you some problems.. Good luck! May the FORCE be with you! Free bird!
