A little re-education. Gore helped with finding funds for the internet infrastructure. Without his political charisma, we would not have the internet except at the university and military levels. It's written in a lot of Networking book about the history of the internet, and how it evolved.

clinton's first 2 years were a total disaster. at election time, the economy bounced back (b/c gore invented the internet) and americans were busy shopping at the malls and car dealerships so he got another 4 years. i think it was a landslide victory.

i think the same will apply in obama's case. the economy will bounce back, banks will be sound, stock market will be booming and he'll say "i did it" and he'll be reelected. it will take a major F up on his part not to get reelected if the economy is good.

anyone have any data on the success of getting reelected in a good vs. bad economy? reelection is all about the economy in my opinion.

I don't think that will be the narrative. Obama will claim saved the nation's economy the economy will be anemic with high unemployment and high debt. He'll also get a boost from leaving Iraq and Afghanistan to their respective fates.

Obama's best shot will be the GOP nominates another old moderate buzzard who turns on no one. The worst case will be a Perot like character that splits the conservative/pissed off vote insuring 4 more years of Obama.

He's already taken credit for not giving the Iraqi government a blank check thereby forcing the factions to work together. Most Americans will be happy to see any kind of an end to the wars. War fatigue and a dismal economy will make Americans more isolationist than anytime since the end of the Cold War. The only thing to change that would be a major war breaking out elsewhere that the U.S. gets sucked into or another 9/11 type terrorist incident.

now if we could just limit the voting to Americans, who are not in jail, not senile, and not dead, or voting more than once, or voting as elvis, the number would be more like 30%.
