Evidence of a Bonifide Marriage

As i am going through the acceptable evidence of a bonifide marriage, i do not have anything but the

wedding pictures. Since we had a traditional wedding and her still being in her country, none of the evidence that

is required applies to me. Do you think i can have family member(father/mother) who actually attended the wedding write a testimony? and

also have her sister or friend produce same kind of evidence there? Please help i am lost... i want to make sure i have

all my ducks in a row before i mail in the I-130.

Anything else that i am not thinking maybe used as a evidence of a bonifide marriage?

Thanks n Regards

Start with the marriage certificate (number one proof). Followed by..I don't know, since you could have just met and had a quick wedding (or lived with each other for a long time and just decided to get hitched). It can vary depending you your specific situation (you'll have to share a bit more for folks to help). :)

About the testimony (aka sworn affidavit) - if you end up doing this (and you might) - the focus should be more on not so much the wedding ceremony, but rather on you guys as a couple and/or as man & wife.

when we filed, we added each other as the beneficiaries to our bank accounts, life insurance, etc. my car insurance (state farm) even let me add my husband's name although he does not have a usa license. i also added him on my health insurance with work. i would say name changes, but it looks like the usc is a male.

if you rent, have your landlord write a letter (that is what we did). i had my best friend, two sisters, and my mom both write affidavits, and he had about 5-7 from his side do the same.

this was done besides the obvious, wedding certificate, pictures, cards, letters, etc. then again, we went into overload for other reasons with filing our i-130. good luck :star:

More evidence you can show, better it is. Even though it is not required to provide these information with I-130 petition, many people front load these information as a precaution or to prevent receiving RFEs which will slow down the process. Therefore, I suggest you to send in few written statements from your family and friends , wedding pictures, wedding invitation cards, pictures with family members other than wedding pictures. It is always going to help if you could show joint bank account/lease, emails or phone bills, hotel bills.. anything that could show you have an ongoing relationships..such as chat logs, money transfers..

Here is my situation;

I was introduced to her by relatives, more like arranged marriage and we started talking over the phone for few months, then i flew to her country on a 4 weeks vacation, within that 4 weeks we dated, engaged and got married. We only spent 2 weeks as a husband and wife and i had to come back as my vacation time ran out. Of course all these times i didn't really think about the visa process and the docs i should've collected or prepared to make the process more smooth.

Now i am back here and she is back home, I am collecting all the necessary papers and as i am going through the requirements i am coming across lots of questions and uncertainty... We have our wedding pics, marriage certificate and video as a proof but i am not sure if that is sufficient enough.

there's that section of the I-130 INSTRUCTIONS that covers 6 types of evidence for proving up a bonafide relationship.

The instructions are there, cause yer supposed to submit the evidence on initial I-130 submittal.

Sometimes it's hard, for newlyweds, especially when living apart, to generate this type of evidence.

However, there are things you can do.

Here's what I did - have a read? (ya, click the link, read it ) http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry3324240

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

When we submitted our form, we included:

1. Marriage Certificate

2. Testimont from my Dad who gave me away at the wedding

3. Pictures of our growing relationship (4) and 2 wedding pictures.

- When we first met, I had short hair, and I let it grow, so in all the pictures, I made sure that you could see the length of my hair. I also wrote a little paragraph about where the picture was taken, whether it was in my country or his and the date it was taken.

We didn't get an RFE with these things.

If your wedding photo's do not show you with her family I would include these, also if you can have some of her family members and friends write and sign letters stating they are aware of your marriage. This is just more proof of bonifide marriage, it seemed to help my case.
